Slightly off topic (in not being part of a slanging match....let's face it LDY is Norn Iron's best airport ;)) but am I right in saying BHD's runway is actually SHORTER than LDY's? In which case could FR/RYR (whichever you choose to call them!) realistically go there (I can't see them at BFS. Easy would have a fit). However, if they can get in and out of BHD I could see them continuing at Derry, whereas if they went to BFS I reckon Derry would die a slow and painful death.

I see the BD flight from verona to bhd is delayed to 23.30. Will it be diverted to Bfs? Or when it comes to delays, does Bd get special treatment compared to Flybe? I can't recall too many BD flights being diverted to Bfs.

See the Bd flight from verona has landed at Bhd at 23.31 tonight. Why is that allowed if there is a restriction from 2130? And as I asked before, does Bd get special treatment? Or are there no planning rules any more at Bhd? Not that they were ever enforced anyway.

No flights are allowed to plan arrival after 21.30 or departure after 21.15 on Saturdays however extensions for delayed flights are permitted up to 23.59. Each request for an extension of hours is examined on an indivdual basis and there is not really any preference given to any airlines.
For example an extension request may be approved if ,as happened for the last couple of nights, the reason was not the fault of the airline concerned. Whereas if the extension is due to poor planning or a home based aircraft being taken to be used on another route the outcome may be slightly different.
Tonights Verona delay was caused by handling issues at Verona.

According to Falcon holidays website the Verona flight next summer arrives into BHD at 22.25 how does that work, is BHD expecting an extension of their opening hours for next year.

As I said earlier in this thread last Saturday night flight BE 7028 on which my wife and I were travelling was diverted to BFS because it left MAN shortly before 9.30pm - approximately 90 minutes late.
I complained to BHD because I felt this was unjustified. We landed at BFS just after 10.00pm which means if we had not been diverted we would probably have landed at BHD just before 10.00pm.
However, I was told the reason the diversion was necessary was because the 146-300 had to reposition empty - apart from cabin crew and pilots - to Inverness. The inference was it wasn't so much the landing as the noise of the take-off they were worried about.
Presuming a take-off towards Belfast Lough would this really have been too much for the residents of the North Down foreshore? Horror of horrors it might even have been audible in the bar of the yacht club on the front at Cultra for 30 seconds.
Is the noise in the area really much more than that of an easyJet, bmibaby or holiday charter flight crossing the lough at right angles on its way to Aldergrove.
Let's just say the passengers on flight BE 7028 were put to a considerably greater degree of inconvenience than 30 seconds of 'whisper jet' noise as were those waiting to greet them at BHD.
My wife and I decided to take a taxi straight to East Belfast where we live but others including families with young children were forced to wait for coaches to take them to BHD which was presumably closed by that stage.
Going by the contributions to this thread which precede this one BHD may have felt by not accepting the flight it was penalising Flybe for inefficiency and I don't deny Flybe were inefficient in this case.
But to be honest the only people who were penalised were the passengers on flight BE7028.

What was the problem with BD A.321 'DC this evening - landed, stopped short of the apron and was then towed to stand escorted by airfield ops in front and behind?

Also, just after Jet2 757 'AC seemed to have trouble getting of stand - started pushing, stopped and had a GPU attached for a while before pushing again and departing.

Mind you, given the weather might just have been water in the electrics....:O:O

Is it true that the Sunday Times mentioned today about EI setting up a base in BFS with 2 A320's, LHR as its first route plus up to 14 other routes, possible transatlantic flights in the future, announcement due shortly. It was mentioned on another forum, if true surprised it has not been mentioned here or on EI thread. If this is true, this could be the big week of annoucements EI at BFS, then no doubt FR will announce BHD as lisdoonvarna mentioned yesterday. (I can wait to read your posts when FR announce BHD)

Eastern Wiseguy, no I'm not. The way Bhd has operated over the years intrigues me. There are rules that state how Bhd should operate, but as far as I can see, over the years they have just been ignored.

Last Friday night's Belefast Telegraph carried a story regarding a disputed car park near Bfs, page 11. In the article, a planning spokesperson is quoted " the Planning Service takes all breaches of planning control very seriously and is fully committed to taking enforcement action where it is appropriate to do so" Can anyone tell me when action has ever been taken against Bhd? I don't know the answer.

Take the flight that I quoted. It is timed to arrive at Bhd just before the restrictions kick in. What are the chances of a delay, quite high in my opinion. So why not operate from Bfs where none of these issues would arise. It's not as if Bd don't operate from Bfs, they have a plane based there for about 3 months currently. Looking at this from several miles away, it looks as if the airport and airlines are giving 2 fingers to the local residents and the rules. And the authorities just let it happen and always have. Why? If flights are timed to arrive aroung 9.30pm, what do they think is going to happen?

You need to remember that society only functions well if we all remember that the rules apply to us all. When individuals or companies decide that the rules are for others, but not them-----well then we have a problem. And one day you might be on the receiving end of the problem.

That is why I get curious as to why the planning rules have never been enforced, as far as I can see. If the rules are there, they should be followed. otherwise, where does it stop?

On a final point, can anyone tell me where else in the world has 3 airports for a population of 1.6m?

Are the reports elsewhere that AB are dropping domestic flights from the end of October correct? That would be the end of the Bhd - Stn flights if correct.

Any final ideas on EI routes my guess would be Bordeaux, Riga, Budapest, Shannon, Brussels, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Munich, Venice, Heathrow can't work out 5 more any guesses

Forgot about Madrid, they may pick up Rome, I thought also about BHX as WW don't seem to be taken advantage of BE's problems and basing an aircraft in BFS for an early morning out. But to do BHX/LGW you would be pushed with 2 Airbuses as you need at least 2 rotations a day to make them work, LHR min of 4 maybe 5 I would say (thats one airbus) leaving the other for 14 routes, busy aircraft, can't see any UK destinations.

I would love to see Munich but it would be tough acquiring slots at Munich airport, unless EI drop MUC-ORK again.
