Just noticed on the Heathrow airport arrivals board that BA 72 from Muscat & Abu Dhabi was cancelled. Does anyone know the reason for the cancellation? Thanks.

Wait a day and try The BA Source -

David Beckham 'Tired Of Star-Stuck Cabin Crew'

You have to wonder about the quality of staff that BA have within Cabin Crew, not like the old days.

Self promoting idiots like Beckham and his missus would have been ignored, now they cabin crew wishes photos with the Uber Chavs.............sad day.

As for his complaint !!!. Stuff him as we had to make do with his photo on everything.

crewmeal 17th Nov 2012 22:25

Shame BA don't have some modern day "Carsons" as CSDs to look after passengers. This would have been avoided regardless of who was travelling.

In my day junior crew would have to ask permission to come into first class or be invited.

PAXboy 18th Nov 2012 02:46

BA moved fast:

British Airways has apologised to David Beckham after cabin crew repeatedly pestered him for autographs and pictures.
Truly terrible behaviour by staff. I could believe this of some carriers but not BA - in ANYcabin, leave alone in F.

Sell your persona as a fragrance, clothing brand, etc.,etc. and you are public property. What does he expect ?

"Self promoting idiots like Beckham and his missus"

Hmmm- a man who has played for one of the best football clubs in the world, represented his country at his trade on 115 occasions ( a record) and worked hard to bring the Olympics to London. His wife was one of the most successful English entertainers ever and has made a reasonable second career in clothes design.

And your average BA CC has achieved what, exactly?

Personally I'm not a big fan of celebrity in the modern world but the Beckhams seem to be have actually achieved rather a lot in their chosen spheres......

Shirley I don't hear jealousy here??? ;);)

pwalhx 18th Nov 2012 11:21

They have achieved a lot but also self promoted a lot and they reap what they sow. They should also be grateful that BA CC showed them some attention which the average punter rarely gets.

Off Stand 18th Nov 2012 19:38

Unfortunately, this route is now operated by our young friends in the hats, the standards of some of them leaves a lot to be desired.

pwalhx 18th Nov 2012 19:42

Actually our young friends in hats as you refer to them are the ones that actually do offer the passenger a service which their more lofty colleagues feel is beneath them.

CabinCrewe 18th Nov 2012 20:12

...as a heavy traveller and from my experience that is almost certainly not the case.

PAXboy 18th Nov 2012 20:28

It does matter not WHO he is. First and foremost - HE IS A CUSTOMER.

Have the staff, or those who thinks he brought it on himself, read the words 'To Fly To Serve' ?

pwalhx 18th Nov 2012 21:08

As a regular traveller myself I would say no they haven't

ZOOKER 19th Nov 2012 00:13

Heathrow Harry,
Sadly, this 'customer' plays football, that's all he does. Well, so do the dogs on the green opposite my house, and they wouldn't even be allowed in the passenger cabin.
When this passenger has solved global overpopulation, cured cancer, solved global warming, or solved the present religious divides, then, he might be entitled to be left alone.
It's called 'The Fame Tax'.

Your average BA CC have passed examinations which allow them to be held responsible for the safety of customers travelling in a pressurised Al tube, at 450kts, 6 miles above the Earth.
Y'know.

PAXboy 19th Nov 2012 00:20

I cannot agree. Whilst I do not follow sport and have zero interest in this passenger whatever he is doing - whilst he is a private passenger and has paid his fare, he is entitled to be private.

Whilst I hold no banner for BA, I want them to survive and having such a regular high paying pax, is good for them. If he goes on to NetJets or fully private, that would be worse for many. Not least the amount of fuel burnt.

The Leveson enquiry has been seeing just how people's lives have been made a misery because they are intruded upon by others at will because they think it it's OK.

It does not matter what you think of the person - they are entitled to privacy when they are not working.

You're not actually for real are you? I feel my chain being yanked now....
A six runway LHR demolishing swathes of Middlesex and Berkshire coupled with all the major airlines in Europe merging?
Nothing you have said yet is remotely likely!
On the matter of LHR, I have only suggested 6 runways could done, but right now its needs another 2

On the other matter, I only suggested LH would make a great merger partner with IAG, also I never suggested "all" of Europe's Major airlines should merge for a start

BALHR 20th Nov 2012 10:17

If BA and LH were to merge OneWorld and Star would not accept a member who is also in another alliance - there would be too many conflicts of interest. Thus you end up with one of the alliances going from strong to puny in Europe. Everyone would realise this including large corporates and other airlines. The result would be the weaker alliance degenerating and collapsing as corporates moved business to other airlines and airlines switched alliances. The result would be just 2 global alliances and not 3. For that reason alone a BA-LH merger is not hoing to be permitted by regulators regardless of slots given up.
I have stated that IAG/LH would have to pick one alliance or the other, but I agree that it will be a major change allaince wise, for example if BA/IB left OW and moved to Star, then I am sure pretty much all of OW members will follow

However, it will not create a worldwide monopoly when you take to account the fact ST has got many big players and many airlines (LCCs and EK for example) are still not members of any alliance, so any competition issues are not as huge as it might seem

If there was a LH/IAG merger, to pass competition reviews, they will have to make those points clear

However a combined OW/Star alliance would be the world leader in the aviation market

Skipness One Echo 20th Nov 2012 12:05

However a combined OW/Star alliance would be the world leader in the aviation market
It would be a cartel surely?

PAXboy 20th Nov 2012 15:47

Chain + yank = BA poster. :hmm:

BALHR 21st Nov 2012 14:08

It would be a cartel surely?
Airline Alliances are effective cartels anyway, even if a OW/Star Alliance happened, there will still be many airlines that would not be part of it
