While on the subject of summer charters?

Any other charter airlines operating to LTN, like Air Europe, Spamair, Aviogenex, Adria or JAT?

Powerjet1 6th May 2009 19:43

Monarch now have W09 flights on sale ex LTN.

I think for the first time ever, Alicante does nor operate during the winter months. Other routes normally operated in this period, seem to be at the same, or slightly increased freq, when compared to W08.

Flybe have a daily(ex sat) LTN-IOM, a slight increase on W08 which I think was 4 x weekly, and LTN-JER operates at 3 x weekly.

The EL AL will be a B777 in July and August...

The EL AL will be a B777 in July and August...
Could you point to a source of where you got this information from...

According to forums elsewhere, that was speculating on the route getting a 777, this is extremely unlikely due to EL AL's fleet of 777's being maxxed out on other routes and none free to fly TLV-LTN-TLV.

Quote from other forum, by another user:
"It isn't in the system. Where would El Al get this other Boeing 777-200 from? They are quite overextended as they are sending the 777-200s to LAX, EWR, GRU, LHR, CDG, HKG and JFK already"

There is no denying the new route seems to be a great success, however!

It makes me laugh how EL AL's 777's serve all those great world renowned cities as stated above and could possibly be serving lil old LTN too, at somepoint in the future! :ok:

Another Israeli airline comes to Luton

The Isrotel Sun Express will operate between Luton and Ovda, commencing in December, though exact dates will not be revealed until May 21.

Isrotel managing director Raffi Sadeh said there would, initially, be 14 flights during the winter season “but in the long term, we would like to operate weekly flights throughout the winter”.

Isrotel Sun Express will use 212-seat aircraft belonging to Sun D’Or, El Al’s daughter airline.

Well it should be when they are doing an introductory offer of £199 return

Gorbachev's mate 7th May 2009 17:29

does anyone remember the maof 720's? security was tight even back then for those flights, can remember the security vehicles following them up the taxiways!

LTNman 8th May 2009 17:50

Yep in the days when Luton had a 4ft fence by the spectators building and no fence at all around much of the airport

The PR machine is in overdrive at LTN with the start of this new EL AL service to Tel Aviv, just received the latest news letter into my inbox...

They are trying to promote EL AL to passengers wishing to travel on to Asia and using Tel Aviv to connect on to other destinations in the airlines route network.

Passengers can also connect with onward flights to Johannesburg, Mumbai, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Beijing. This opens up new opportunities for EL AL passengers to fly their favoured airline to South Africa and the Far East all from London Luton Airport.

This may work with airlines like Qatar Airways and Emirates, but I am not sure El Al is really considered as an airline to connect onto Europe. Onwards connections may work well to these destinations from regional airports like Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow, but when LTN only has Heathrow down the road... Im not sure it is going to attract that sort of market!

Also with Tel Aviv being one of the most secure airports in the world, connecting onto another flight doesn't really make Tel Aviv the greatest options when it comes to airport experiences!

I wish the fence was 4ft high by Spectators in those days!!....would have saved all the photos I've got with fence mesh in 'em!

BLIMEY! A triple 7 descending out of the clouds on a regular basis might wake level bust from his slumber!

As for connections using the El-AL network, for most folk price is the key, not the hub.

ImPlaneCrazy 10th May 2009 20:26

Anybody know what the VIA A320 was doing in LTN today?

TBSC 10th May 2009 20:48

Wet-lease for Wizz.

TBSC 10th May 2009 20:51

@Buster:
Your connecting aircraft is landing already at its destination while you're still having your 7th security check in TLV. :)

pabely 11th May 2009 07:51

El Al B767

If there is going to be a change of aircraft used it will be a digit down, not up!

kala87 11th May 2009 11:18

Is the LY TLV route operated by a 767-200 or -300? I saw the departing aircraft several times last week from a distance and it looked more like a short bodied 767.

pabely 11th May 2009 11:30

Sure I have only seen 200's
