Milan Flights
I think you will find the Milan Bergamo flights only operate four times weekly. Also on the Luton Flight Timetable and on the Ryanair booking engine a three times weekly service to Limoges is due to commence shortly but I cannot remember it being announced but my memory is going a bit now as I am a bit of an old git! Another destination will be dropped as it is a Luton-based aircraft which operates the service.

LTN-MXP is a replacement route of LTN-WAW last flight 5 July.
From MXP to London there are now 16x daily flights: BA MXP-LHR 4x daily LH MXP-LHR 6x daily (4x by LHI and 2x by BMI) U2 MXP-LGW 4x daily U2 MXP-LTN 2x daily When you can fly from 99 euro return with Lufthansa MXP-LHR 6x daily or Easyjet MXP-LGW from 60 euro return 4x daily, the new MXP-LTN 2x daily is a no sense flight, also Ryanair has cut BGY-LTN from 2x daily to 4x week. Sorry but LTN is probably the worst choice for central London. |

'I would never consider myself a 'Luton' expert, but watching and hoping that Stansted fails, makes me sleep better at night. Unquote. 'Why?? If you don't have a chip or take it personally? I fully remember the injustice that was felt by LTN staff on the announcement of STN as London's Third, but as I've said before, there has to be a reality check. The decision was made on the basis of logistics, for example how on earth could you make LTN an inter-continental hub for less cost? which is what London's Third Airport had to be. There is a definite my Airport is best thread here, but just answer me how much just one parallel taxiway for LTN would cost? you'd have to move a very large part of Hertfordshire just to support it. Luton's location is against it, hence whey the Yanks picked STN, it's flat countryside with no challenging approaches whatsoever and I won't even go down the route of vehiclular access. Whatever personal feelings, STN and LTN are not comparable Airports, they are good at what they do, but LTN never has been, or can be without unrealistic investment, an international hub, at the end of the day, it was built in the wrong place. |

It is only this summer in all of 8yrs that the routes frequency has been dropped. Ryanair seems to use LTN very much as an experimental base to tweek timetables and add additional capacity to other routes which are operated from STN. London is not the only destination people are travelling to when they travel to or from LTN! I live up in Northamptonshire about 45 miles from the airport and it is still my "Local Airport", plus I can travel directly there on East Midlands Trains from Wellingborough and Kettering! |
Ryanair would base more airframes at Luton, but only if the airport paid for them!

Ryanair would base more airframes at Luton, but only if the airport paid for them! Even if no Ryanair didn't base any new aircraft at the airport, it would be nice to see aircraft from other bases operating to the airport. Hyperthetically, a Stockholm Stavsta service operated by an aircraft from this base. I think it is simply a case, LTN are not willing to give Ryanair the concessions it once did get and has to pay to use the airport at the same prices other airlines have to. While some airports in Europe continue to offer the airline these sort of fantastic deals, this is where new aircraft will continue to be based. I predict, FR capacity is likely to remain very much the same at the airport for the forseeable future. |

Luton to Forli
More new flights.......bring it on!!!!:ok:
|
No idea what L...G.. means on the Wind Jet LTN-Forsi schedule though!
Anyone care to translate these into actual days? :ok: Also, does anyone have any idea if the El Al aircraft will be arriving sometime prior to their commencing date / will there be a test flight between LTN - TLV? |
As has been repeated many, many times...there are no spaces overnight on the tarmac to base any more aircraft. The only way for airlines to expand at LTN is to fly from an overseas base to LTN once the first wave of departures has gone freeing up stands. :ugh::ugh::ugh:

Forli Monday and Thursday

Just a small observation. Why has LTN been a building site with a runway for nearly the last 30 years..........:bored:
|
Gradual improvements to infrastructure? Apart from the shifting of the drop off zone and the so called improvements to the road layout in the central area I can’t think of anything else that has happened in the last few years unless I have missed something.
As a side issue, got to say that since the completion of the dual carriageway to the M1 and upgrade of the M1 to 4 and 5 lanes, travelling to and from the airport has been transformed in the rush hour which must be a big bonus to the airport as they look for new airlines. |
anyone know if there are any plans to create new aircraft parking stands? surely there is gona come a time soon when this will be required if luton is to continue attracting new airlines and routes?
|
Hard to see where any stands could go since plans were announced to expand the long term car park.
I thought the idea was to slightly increase the size of the south stands and bring them into regular passenger use. Even a new airside road was put in around a year ago to allow Silverjet to operate from there. I am surprised that not even one or two south stands could not be used for night stoppers, as the stands seem to be often almost empty. The only other viable plan without adding stands to the south of the runway would be to use the short term car park and drop off area and move them to the midterm car park, which appeared on plans sometime ago. That would create another 6 stands. |
Good news about Windjet starting LTN-FRL. Maybe a possibility of more flights from their other main bases at CTA & PMO.
Plans for another "6 pack" on what is now the short-term car park, were drawn up and were probably the most likely. However, due to the current, ongoing disagreement between the airport operator & LBC, these plans have been shelved, and only a "Care & Mainternance" programme seems to be the order of the day. Obviously things can change and yes, additional stands are badly needed, but don't hold your breath. |
