Expect more delays as a half mile section of the A505 will be closed at weekends from May to possibly July. This time the diversion route is through the airport as work on a new roundabout at Eaton Green Road continues.

While the A 505 upgrade to the airport continues at a snails pace some good news concerning the M1.

Wednesday 30th April

Overnight traffic management alterations which will open up the M1 southbound to 4 lanes running between J10 and J9 at 50mph.

Thursday 1st May

Actually at one stage there were two Saudi C-130's on the ground at the same time and a total of three different ones last week but all have gone now.

I hear that the KLM diversion in the week was a Mayday due to low fuel.

Abertis Infraestructuras SA. would be interested in purchasing some of Grupo Ferrovial SA.'s BAA airport assets if the United Kingdom's Competition Commission (CC) forces the group to break them up, a source close to the company said.

According to Expansion, Abertis is eyeing the group's Gatwick assets. Abertis already manages the UK's Luton, Cardiff and Belfast airports.

Luton Airport authorities have rallied for Gatwick's separation from BAA in order to create a viable competitor to Heathrow, the newspaper said.

The Hercs, were they collecting more Aston Martins?

LTNman 1st May 2008 05:17

Wonder if LTN will see any interesting Russian birds flying all those Chelsea supporters out to the big match?

LTN ATCO 1st May 2008 10:14

I've seen the list for the football and yes there will be some russian metal, 767's 737's T154's and some others, about 30 extra flights that day.

Hercs were apparently collecting stage sets/props.

BlueA330 1st May 2008 16:08

Excuse my ignorance of football but what day will see the football flights

pabely 1st May 2008 18:25

Quick check on google, the Final is on 21st May, either side of this date would seem to fit the bill.

jetsetwilly 1st May 2008 20:18

Ladacan...

...will have a field day with those 154's coming in!!!

Incidentally, another Herc in Saudi colours on Stand 14 the other day.

JSW.

Buster the Bear 1st May 2008 21:18

Assuming a 3 hour flight from Moscow, those 154's will be waking the neighbourhood up rather early on the morning they position out empty back to Russia! WONDERFUL!

pabely 1st May 2008 23:24

I thought the plan was the Aeroflot flights will operate out on Tuesday evening and return Thursday afternoon and evening so as the avoid night flights?

LTNman 2nd May 2008 03:27

Looking at the official Chelsea FC website flights for the season ticket holders seems to be split over 2 days starting on May 20th with night flights. It looks like an even spread of departures from Luton, Gatwick and Stansted.

Uefa Cup Final 21 May

Just to add to the flavour a large sports travel company is offering day flights for Manchester United supporters from Luton on 21 May departing in the early hours and returning hopefully in the early hours of Thursday but odds on they will probably arrive back sometime on Thursday as the match is not due to finish until 12.45am that is without extra time. Don’t forget most Manchester United supporters do not live in the Manchester area!

pabely 6th May 2008 10:44

The Chelsea Web site says 'you might be interested to know that Luton Airport has received requests for an addition 91 slots on the day of the Champions League Final.' but don't know if that is just 21st?

LGS6753 6th May 2008 17:55

Your 91 slots will no doubt include the legions of executive jets that will all be hurrying eastwards. Don't they realize it's on TV - and in any case, it's only a foopball match.:ugh:

Buster the Bear 6th May 2008 21:18

Oh take me back to the JAT DC-10, or the TEA Boeing 707. I am showing my age and grey fur!

22/04 7th May 2008 01:37

If yours is grey Buster mine must be white!

Transavia Caravelle's Pomair DC8 and Air Kommerz 707-120s - but which year?

And which teams
