Sk 146

According to flyintobhx it has now been confirmed that SAS will be using Atlantic 146-200 and 146-300 for the summer, its a shame as i liked seeing the MD-80s and A319.

Pete...To clarify the situation the airport is still in talks with TK...:8

Belfast 7030 up from 5666

There is only 6 flights per week-no flights on a Fri - BFS/Newark

Newark

gate 22

Is that an increase or decrease on the 2007 flights or exactly the same?

The BHX figure is quite a reduction but 2007 was exceptional for a January.

Still I suppose the figures for EDI, BFS, BHX & BRS are not that bad and
MAN were very good considering it was January.

SAS now using smaller A/C ? Give it 2 year and I bet that LX, LH, KLM and SAS would have pulled out of BHX. Mark my words we will soon be a sea of Ryanair, BMI baby, Easyjet and flybe with a few longhaul flights thrown in too....

PS, dose anybody really think that T2 will be able to cope with the first wave of 10 extra 737-800 departing in the morning, even if there only 2/3 full thats an extra 1260 passangers all wanting to get through T2 security before 7am, add that to flybe passanger load and your queing out the door and into the Novotel...........

ATNotts 19th Feb 2008 18:14

Tickerdboo,

Is English your first language, if it isn't I apologise - if it's not, then frankly, your comments might possibly carry more weight if they were spelt correctly and made sence, at least gramatically!

Where is the logic in your suggestion that all European full-service airlines will leave BHX? LH, AF, KL et al use their BHX service primarily to feed long haul networks through the respective main hubs. How FR or WW are expected to dent that market when, firstly, with few exceptions they don't even fly into big hubs, and second, don't offer interline facilities. All the UK's major cities need, and because of that will retain full service carriers - this applies equally to MAN and EDI as well as BHX.

As for 10 FR flights departing from T2 simultaneously, well that won't happen at least for a couple of years. The FR base at BHX is, to begin with two, and works up to 10, potentially, ove rthe next few years- by which time a lot can, and surely will have changed.

By the way - the hotel is the Novotel.

Reality check required me thinks.

SAS

I would think that the SAS sub flights are due in a large part to the DH8 withdrawal. You could argue that a 146 on the evening is better than the Dash 8 last year, then again perhaps not.

The Swiss flights, 2 out of 3 sub out but no different to Man.

LH is a mix of Reginal of Mainline dependent on route

KLM a mix of Mainline and hopper.

AF have been sub out for years to BE and Cityjet.

No real change and unlikly to be so.

Tickerdboo,

Is this the same Air France and Lufthansa that are expanding out of BHX into Lyon and Hamburg? Not sure I seen any sense in your argument/rant.

Forgive him, he doesn't get much sleep now thanks to nappies etc :} Anyway you can't expect much sense from a southerner:ok:

tickerdboo 20th Feb 2008 17:28

Who was that airline that went from T2???? oh yes I remember it was called British Airways........

ATNotts 20th Feb 2008 17:35

BA at BHX

The economics of BA operating a full base at BHX and MAN are totally different from other major legacy carriers operating services to those airports from their major hubs.

LH, AF and KL have no needs for armies of staff down the line, they can employ the services of handling agents to look after their operations, and as such their costs at non based airports are much lower than BA's would have been at BHX.

Also, where BA is concerned, they simply want to be a London based carrier, feeding passengers in and out of the UK on long haul services, and using LHR as a hub to bring in short haul passengers from other Euopean cities to feed on to their longhaul network. Pretty much what the aforementioned carriers do at their home bases.

Yes T2 will cope very well. Don't know where you do your thinking but it's a good job it's not in planning.
For a start you forgot to mention the space freed up by moving the other carriers to T1. Plus the spare capacity in T2 (Yes there is some).
Doom monger....:E

Swissport going bust?????

Rumour has it that Swissport could be ready to sell up? Decrease of workload by 40-50%. Can anyone shed any light on this?

tickerdboo 21st Feb 2008 04:17

time will tell.....but from the looks of it there will be cuts accross the board, jobs will go and heads will roll....T1 and T2 will become one happy family again, well thats the rummor anyway

OPS1978 23rd Feb 2008 16:01

swissport to merge in T2 big mistake think it will cause countless problems T1 Ramp deprtment and T2 ramp department dont get on and people in T1 ops stayed in in T1 because they didnt want to work with a certain airline operating from T2 but also what happens christmas day when T2 doesn't open if they go to one operation?. Mangement not thinking things out.

Swissport

Simple. You open Terminal 2 on Christmas Day and the staff stop bickering with each other and get on with each other.

Charter aircraft based this Summer 2008

Hi all,

Just wondered if anyone can confirm or know any difference about the based charter aircraft this Summer...I have this-

Monarch- 4 A321's (3 for Scheduled and 1 for Charter operations)
First Choice Airways- 2 B757's
Thomas Cook Airlines- 3 B757's
Thomsonfly- 1 B767-300, 2 B757's
Air Malta- 1 A320

Not sure on the Thomsonfly aircraft...Can anyone confirm??

There does not seem to be too much A320 movement this Summer, what with Monarch replacing their aircraft with an A321 for the Summer and of course no more Mytravel, with TCX basing 3 B757's.

Also I have found a Bourgas flight operated by Monarch operating as a non based aircraft...Does anyone have any idea if this will be operated by their B757 fleet?? Would be nice to see them in over the Summer at some point.

Cheers in advance to anyone that can help. :)

ATNotts, just a quickie. What do you make of LH long-haul ops out of Munich and Dusseldorf. Rather makes a mockery out of "big airline using only their home hub". If BA were to be bothered, I'm sure that could operate a few routes in partnership with their oneworld partners out of the regions. It's the reluctance for them to do so that makes it that much easier for the other airlines to feed their hubs.

Holocaust Educational Trust Charters?

Does anybody have any knowledge of the Holocaust Educational Trust: Lessons From Auschwitz Charter that leaves BHX for KRK (departing and returning in the same day) around April time each year? Any information would be greatly appreciated as I'm due to fly on this trip April 29th 2008.

Also while I'm here; any more info on the MAN diversions today? I understand a PIA 77W and BA 757 diverted? Any more?

Regards,
BHXDMT.
