Ryanair and t2
Klm 738 Only Fit On Stand 9, THEY DONOT FIT ANYWHERE ELSE OTHER THAN 1-3. As Regards Stands 1 - 3 They Actually Overhang The Taxiway And Are Thus Coned To Avoid Mishaps With Other Airlines. Am Guessing If They Do Use T2 The Remotes Would Be Favourite Although Can You Get Them On Their As I Beleive The Wings Overhang.
As Regards Pax Mixing, Anyone Would Think Fr Pax Are Aliens Or Have Some Disease. I Am All For There Expansion Especially Serving Routes No Other Airline Would Dream Of Serving. All Good In My Eyes, People Need To Get Of Their High Horses And Get Behind The Airport And Fr. I Know For One Half The People Who Slag Them Off Will Use The Cheap Services. Barry |

Is It So Very Very Important

FR into T2?
Interesting - the immigration and customs area is very small. Won't take much to create a bottle neck. |
I fly regularly with FR, and frequently with VS in Premium, please don't tell VS, they may stop me mixing with other Premium pax, or strip me of Flying Club membership.
Bruppy - your comment was really stupid. |
my secrets out, i wondered why the BA crew gave me evils the other day, they must have known i flew Ryanair to Berlin last year, Im so very very ashamed:}

T2 Congestion ?
I was thinking the same about T2 congestion ...... plane loads (we hope that are full) of 737-800's could soon swamp T2 when currently only used for EMB145's, Q400's, RJ85's and the like. Not only at immigration and customs on the inbound, but in security on the outbound.
I am sure with 2 based FR aircraft BHX will cope at T2 .... just ....but up to 10 ?! Nice problem for BHX to have though ....although travelling through T1 and T2 recently even during the winter months, passenger space appears a little busy and fully utilised air side. Looks like the most under utilised equipment will be the air bridges ! Neither BE or FR appear to use them at BHX. |
I can only agree regarding the international arrivals at T2. There are only four desks for passport control (not all manned) and 1 baggage belt! One full KLM 738 is enough to create congestion there, with PAX queuing all the way up to the gate! So you can imagine the effect of, say, 3 Ryanair 738s simultaneously...
Regarding maintenance hangars on the western apron, nobody's mentioned the small issue of planning application. A few years ago Maersk Air Ltd. applied to have one maintenance hangar built for its 735s and CRJ200s. After over a year, the planning application process was still ongoing, with plenty of Sheldon residents up in arms against the project (even though a high berm like the one by the fire station would have been built to limit noise). By the time Maersk had become Duo Airways, then gone bust, there was still no sign of the hangar! Food for thought... |
I think the might of RYR/MOL would have a few more tricks to play than Duo/Maersk. Usually what they want they get.

Only 1 baggage belt in T2 ?
Have to say BHX has doubled its baggage belt capacity in T2 ...... they now have 2 !
I have it on good authority they have used the old BA offices in T2 to rebuild and double the size of arrivals. Still a bit cosy tho' when 738's arrive ....... but then I suppose, how much luggage will there be on these FR arrivals ? |
Has anyone noticed the cheeky advertising hordings from Manchester Airport on the out skirts of Brum? Basically, they are plugging all of the long haul holiday destinations and US routes available from there.

Off Stand
Here in Sunny Solihull we used to receive a full glossy brochure from Manchester Airport every year showing all their destinations. From memory I think it was not addressed but delivered to the area in bulk and posted locally. It was mighty impressive, very slick and informative and at the time but BHX to shame. However not sure when this was last received but it must have been a couple of years ago. On a similar vein over the last year the number of friends and relatives I know travelling from the West Mids to MAN has dwindled considerably. Most seem to be choosing Heathrow if they want to go to the States and the rest BHX- CDG or FRA or AMS or DXB. If it is Manchester it is usually Florida due to BHX's poor offerings and some of the lesser served Greek destinations such as Preveza, KLQ (gone from BHX again), Samos etc. Pete |

There is one on the airfield boundary as you turn off the A45.
Fair game if the routes are not available from BHX. Centre cities |
bruppy FR Hanger Now the short runway is "officially" closed, FR could build hangers etc where the old "Freight West" site was planned to go, don’t expect the Sheldon locals to be happy about this though. Regarding maintenance hangars on the western apron, nobody's mentioned the small issue of planning application. A few years ago Maersk Air Ltd. Daza Fr @ Bhx FR will be using T2 there will be no removal of airbriges etc. Has anyone noticed the cheeky advertising hordings from Manchester Airport on the out skirts of Brum? |

Never noticed LH4900 missing - is this a first for LH BHX-FRA?
I know the afternoon DUS used to stop in July & August but I can't ever remember a FRA other than the Christmas/New Year period. Seems quite a few more flights have stopped this January than last year but overall I believe that there are more seats in the BHX market. Also reported that the Morning and evening Swiss is due to be Helvetic Airways FK100 for a certain period but not any real difference in the number of seats available The midday remains a Swiss RJ100. FR will be using T2 there will be no removal of airbriges etc. Yes there will. That's a definite. |
Not sure of the numbers yet but yes. Stand reconfiguration is a necessity. Most of them are under used. If I get the definitive stand plan I'll let you know. Don't want to second guess the final draft.
