Be Lba-lgw

This was always going to be case i.e. LBA a much more attractive proprosition given the infrastucture, company presence already there and dare I say it the proactive management.

I think it will be HIGHLY unlikely flyBE will operate a LGW operation from MME not only for the above reasons but also since such an operation would pull pax away from their NCL and (now) LBA operation.

Oh well, would love to know what telephone/letter/face to face correspondance has taken place between MME management and operators to LON (as indeed anywhere!) in the last 6mths...they're probably checking their facebooks all day!!)

DTVAirport 20th Apr 2009 16:59

They don't have Facebooks - believe me I have looked!! :)

paarmo 20th Apr 2009 18:50

I think the problem here is that they have no contacts with other operators for either formal or informal discussions. If you have never operated in the airline/airport environment your contact list looks a little bare.
By the wat what's a facebook? I presume it's something to do wth computers rather than airlines.

SimJock 20th Apr 2009 20:14

Yes Please

LBA-LGW from £24.99 one way.. yes please I'll have some of that :ok:

Now then... shuttle bus from MME to LBA anyone ?

paarmo 20th Apr 2009 21:34

Facebook...a "social networking site".........doesn't anyone go to the pub nowadays?.
Mind you no one would want to stand a round with some of the management team as they would probably be on expenses and drink Bombay gin and tonic instead of us commoners on Gordons.

Just been to the terminal to get my new pass. It's a ghost town in there!

Everything's shut. What was the logic behind closing the information desk? Fair enough if the phones are handled centrally, but face-to-face enquiries are a must. I had to wander through to the office area in the hope I wouldn't get arrested, whereas in the past the information desk always escorted you to the pass office.

One or two of you are behaving as though you are the CEO's of DVT and you are privy to all the ins and outs of the place. Getting carried away in fact.

Unfortunately the guilty ones are also carelessly naming names and breaching PPRuNe rules. As a result one person is banned for a while to reflect on his real position on PPRuNe and his and others posts have been deleted.

More of the same unless you keep to the facts.

Get a grip.

Freudian slip Mr Pop?

DVT is what the airport seems to have....:ok:

paarmo 21st Apr 2009 18:03

That comes from using the manufactured name of the airport instead of what it is really called.

Another sad loss, the final catering staff will go from what used to be ICS at the end of the month. All that will be left are a few part time jobs cleaning the KLM and Eastern.
It wasn't to long ago when they would of been bringing in extra staff to provide the food for the based IT aircraft, a sign of the times.

One little snippit of good news - Newmarket have added a Malta holiday departing Durham Tees on 3rd November and returning on the 10th with Air Malta doing the flying. :ok:

paarmo 22nd Apr 2009 23:03

The CEO of DVT told you so.

CentreFix25 23rd Apr 2009 06:20

My sources tell me that an announcement is imminent with good news.

Newmarket have added a Malta holiday departing Durham Tees on 3rd November and returning on the 10th with Air Malta doing the flying.
Best offer so far!

PPRuNe Pop 23rd Apr 2009 06:38

Oops, you are right. Feel a bit of a clot! :O

barry lloyd 23rd Apr 2009 07:54

Personally, I think it's a bit rich to pull up the mod over an acronym when some of these armchair CEOs, several of whom clearly work in the industry, can't even spell hangar correctly!

andrewmcharlton 23rd Apr 2009 09:30

Chill out Barry Lloyd or you'll get a DVT with stress.....

barry lloyd 23rd Apr 2009 09:37

Chill out Barry Lloyd or you'll get a DVT with stress.....
Much more likely to get it with long-haul flying :)

I gather a Virgin Atlantic A340-600 is passing through MME on 3rd May operating an MOD charter to Calgary. Quite a big bird for the airfield, and perhaps the first visit for such an aircraft?

mmeteesside 23rd Apr 2009 11:12

That will be interesting to see, I believe it will indeed be the first ever visit of an A340-600, in fact might be the first A340 altogether, can't remember one in the past.

andrewmcharlton 23rd Apr 2009 13:52

Can't be much margin for error on that one at MME ?
