Mark Darby was noted in the local media a few weeks back stating that the 228NG would be delivered 'next week' this would have been last week & still no sign of it. I've checked GINFO to see if G-OAUR has been registered & unsurprisingly there's no sign of it! At least GR have arranged for two Pa31's to op the ACI service in the event of more Trislander tech issues.

It's time for a management change at GR I feel as no one there currently seems able to sort anything

bring back the Luftwaffe - they didn't seem to have a problem getting Dorniers flying in the Channel Islands
Maybe they have some spare capacity?

I was told today that the two secondhand Dornier 228's are (as we suspected)beset with problems, one aircraft is 'riddled' with technical problems & the other has trim problems when there are more than 9 male pax booked!

The 228NG which was due to have been delivered a few weeks bacj has still to arrive in GCi & like it's sister-ships will spend a lot of time on the ground due to no crew having yet undergone any training on the type.

Can anyone in the know at GR confirm any of the above?
(or have you all been gagged)

Sorry Jerbourg, yes, they have all been gagged.

Just been told that now D228 operations are on AUR's AOC, flights into ACI will be limited to a 20kt x/wind due to the runway being less than 23 metres wide.

Just gets better !

When I put my feet up in a few years time, I'm going to write a book..'How not to run an airline'.

Cloud1 5th Dec 2015 17:41

Just out of interest what are the limits on a twin otter had they had gone with that as a replacement for the trislanders?

Aero Mad 5th Dec 2015 19:14

Max crosswind component without runway width limitation:

Twin Otter: 27kts
Dornier 228: 30kts

I believe the Tri has also been down to a 20kt limit since G-RLON's runway excursion in Jan 2014. The whole situation is rather a mess, but the fact is that the runway is in serious need of work regardless of which type of aircraft operates from it.

Latest addition to the Guernsey Dornier museum....
New Dornier has arrived in Guernsey today.

kcockayne 14th Dec 2015 18:40

AUR must be running out of parking space for them !

Jerbourg 15th Dec 2015 18:28

Looking at booking flights between GCI & JER for July 2016 I notice that the seat map brings up a Dornier 228, does this mean the end of the codeshare with SI is in sight or is this just an error?

aurigny72 15th Dec 2015 20:02

Hi everyone im new here so please be gentle with me. Can anyone tell me why Aurigny seems to have only 4 daily inter island flights on sale for Summer 2016, while their codeshare partner Blue Islands has up to 6-7 flights on weekdays?. I thought this was supposed to be a equal partnership on this service, havnt noticed this before.

Hermite 15th Dec 2015 21:01

The times are different to those being offered on the Blue Island site, so maybe the code share is coming to an end.

welkyboy 15th Dec 2015 21:30

Still showing flights operated by Blue Islands on the Aurigny
website for summer 16
Where did you get your info from?

Ayline 15th Dec 2015 22:43

It definitely looks like a 4 x daily except Sat & Sun Dornier 228 service which seems to coincide with the end of the 2 year code share agreement. The flight on an ATR may be quicker than on a Trislander but the loading, unloading and push backs all add to the journey time. Due to a bag discrepancy on a recent flight to Jersey I ended up spending an hour on the aircraft. If Aurigny can bring back some of the service we enjoyed in the past then that will good news. Just a shame that there are no weekend flights and the prices do look on the high side. On another positive note it is good to see flights operating later into the evening.

kcockayne 15th Dec 2015 23:12

What ? The Dornier is going to be in service in July ?!

JetJamie 16th Dec 2015 09:27

Ayline, the bag discrepancy issue you mentioned leading to bad service on your flight to Jersey would have been down to the handling agent, not BI. And that agent is...???

Skipness One Foxtrot 16th Dec 2015 11:37

Best bet for a Trislander flight from A to B in January please? I know an operational switch is possible / likely but do let me know if you can.

Happy to fly out of SOU or nip down to GCI and pick one up from there.
