Have been suffering bad technical reliabilty & therefore punctuality with the ATR's over the last few months & must have spent thousands chartering aircraft. Tomorrow - 31 Jan they have 2 Flybe Dashes operating for them.

Update - Fokker 50 (Denim Air?) operating as DB still out of service

More Delays !!!

Anyone know why Aurigny suffered delays again yesterday last LGW getting back to GCI about 1 hrs 30mins late? Also this AM redeye to Gatwick delayed ? A/C appears to be here on apron but LGW screens showing delay of 1hr?
Saw the Denmin Air F50 here again early this weekend was that for GR flights or Blue Islands?

Jerbourg 25th Feb 2013 16:13

The F50 was in GCI for 2/3 days for GR, covering for tech (again) ATR's.

guern123 25th Feb 2013 17:19

Thanks Jerboug,
Have to admit a bit worrying the amount of times they are going tech at the moment !!

Ayline 25th Feb 2013 17:54

Actually the Fokker 50 was not covering for tech aircraft but rather for the planned annual maintenance check being carried out on G-VZON which was at Flybe Engineering at Exeter.

harriewillem 25th Feb 2013 20:16

The mother Fokkers flew on time...:ok:

Funny... putting your aircraft at Flybe maintenance... sure we can help... here's our back up Crap 8 to replace your ATR we are delaying, eh... fixing :ugh:

Jerbourg 26th Feb 2013 19:36

Ayline - I believe that G-VZON had finished it's planned maintenance at EXT & the crew were on the way to EXT with Flybe via JER when the news came that VZON was tech & would not be returning to service. Thus the positioning crew were told to offload in JER & not to go to EXT.

That's when the F50 came into play!

Once again GR are blighted by technical ATR 72's.
Chartered in to operate today have been a Denim Fokker 50 & a Blue Islands ATR42. I happen to know that the booked loads were all over 60, so I assume there are quite a few unhappy pax once again left at their departure airport. Let's hope the new MD can sort something with these ongoing tech issues.

Cloud1 7th Apr 2013 21:02

What exactly can the new MD do regarding technical aircraft? If it is tech, it's tech. Aircraft are not like cars, they do tend to have issues more frequently as there are so many parts to it. I never really understand why people think technical issues are avoidable?

Anyway it sounds like GR have done pretty well chartering in an aircraft including those from competitors just to get customers moving again.

Ayline 7th Apr 2013 21:24

ATR-72 went tech at EMA. Aircraft fixed and returned to Guernsey tonight operating scheduled EMA-GCI service.

MANTHRUST 7th Apr 2013 22:16

The MD can keep an eye on the person who's job it is to keep an eye on fixing the jets, which should include hanging on to spare parts which bean counters don't like airlines hanging on to because bean counters don't understand Ops.
Well that's what MDs should do amongst other stuff!

guern123 8th Apr 2013 06:38

MD Job

Yes aircraft go Tech all the time and Maybe MH is a bit of a scapegoat here. Those ATR's are worked really hard, with out knowing what actually failed on them it's hard to judge but with the recent amount of failures on them maybe the decision to move a lot of the serving off island may have back fired slightly. Previously spares etc.. would have been to hand here and the A/C could have been back in service quicker ? The MD of a company should be picking up on these issues and making sure they don't re occur. With the losses Aurigny are making to charter aircraft constantly must be hurting the pocket badly, lets hope the new MD can sort the issues.

Hunt for Trislander replacement starts

TV, press and radio in CI have story that the hunt is on by Aurigny to replace Trislander -

Local News in the Guernsey area and National News

Twotter must be one of the front runners unless ACI prepared to extend. Anyone with more info?

xtypeman 17th Apr 2013 17:23

Plus the Dornier 228 and the Let 410. However there would also be a need for JetA1 in ACI.

Two aircraft were mentioned recently...

Viking Air DHC-6 Twin Otter 400

RUAG/Dornier 228 New Generation

New Aircraft

Sorry £15M tax payers money to fund new a/c. I was under the impression that the states took control of GR to maintain the LGW slots not to fund the Interisland services !!!

Aero Mad 18th Apr 2013 17:39

guern123, GR was started in March 1968 with the sole purpose of keeping inter-island services going from ACI to GCI. If the States merely wanted to continue the LGW route in 2003, they were very welcome to start their own standalone independent airline. But they chose to buy GR, and with it came the obligation to maintain ACI services.

Aurigny will not drop Alderney services; it will borrow money for the upgrade in the same way as it borrowed money for the ATR 72-500s. Made a nice Guernsey Press headline, though.
