Looks like we've got a replacement for Belfast City route. As BA Cityflyer has announced today its to operate the Leeds/Bradford - Belfast City service. Flights have already started and operate up to 6x weekly (daily Mon-Fri & Sun)

https://mediacentre.britishairways.c...asgow?ref=Home

I wonder if Aer Lingus has plans to replace the Dublin route too?

Would anybody have any information on the progress, if any, re the proposed new terminal development, due to be completed in 2023? I have tried direct questioning to LBIA without any response and the web-site has not been updated since the initial approval by Leeds City Council some months ago. I do appreciate that the plans have been either 'called in' or put on 'temporary hold' - for how long?

You will have to ask Mr Jenrick that question.

Might be just me but you would have thought they would have said Zadar Croatia to get more sales, Croatia only mentioned later in the report.
Zadar interesting looking airport layout with two long runways.

What a disaster for the airport and the region. Effectively condemned for evermore to "make do and mend".

It is not a disaster. The airport is still there but the world is now a different place, which the airport owner now recognises. No one wants a new loss making terminal that can’t pay its way.

Sad day for my local airport.Another add on is not what the airport needs,it's already a mess of a terminal.I try to fly from here when I can,but think I will start to look elsewhere unfortunately.

Not a great day for LBA, but totally understandable. Too much money and time has been wasted already, so why waste even more time and money on a public inquiry?

So it looks like LBA are going ahead with building the £25 million 3 story terminal extension instead, which received planning approval by Leeds City Council in January 2019 and also allows the airport to grow its passenger numbers up to 7 million a year.

A hard headed business decision IMHO. Betting £150 million of shareholders funds on more or less doubling pre-pandemic traffic in ten years is just too risky in the current business environment. An incremental approach may not be as pretty but it makes a lot more sense. The next set of national air traffic forecasts is going to make interesting reading for all airports.

Well BE751 seemed to get away on time this morning and the BHD flight is currently airborne so they've at least made a start.

Didn't see much publicity though...
