That is exactly what I did at first. We must both be mildly dyslexic! (Or, as you say, a trip to the optician may be called for).

Good to see a slight increase for easyJet operating up to 5x weekly (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun) Leeds - Belfast Int'l this coming winter 2023/24 season.

Here's hoping the may expand further with reintroduction of the Geneva route.

Completely different operator… and a brand new one at that. TUI have decided Teesside to Dalaman will work better as a replacement

LEEDS Bradford Airport (LBA) has been accused of trying to effectively ditch the night-time flights cap it was found to have broken last summer.

The Yeadon-based airport has applied to Leeds City Council for permission to run an unlimited number of supposedly quieter planes to take off and land between 11pm and 7am. Conditions imposed on LBA in 2007 restrict the number of flights between these hours to limit the noise impact on residential neighbours. Earlier this year, that cap was found to have been breached by nearly 750 flights during the summer season of 2022.

The airport said the applications had been put forward to try to “clarify” these rules. But the move has sparked a furious response from The Group for Action on Leeds Bradford Airport (GALBA) and Yeadon’s three local Liberal Democrat councillors, one of whom claimed most modern planes would be exempt from the cap if a change is approved.

Certificates of lawful development are different to planning applications, in that they are awarded to applicants to clarify whether or not a development or practice is within the rules. Unlike planning applications, they are not subject to public consultation or advertisement. Leeds City Council has said it will make a ruling on the applications by November 1.

Yes, this is the original proposal prior to them announcing plans for a new terminal and then withdrawing those plans after they were called in. In fact the initial ground work for this was started in Summer 2019.

I understand this is the first of three expansion phases to be undertaken over the next few years. Once the extension is built as part of phase 1 the current terminal facilities will be overhauled as part of phase 2. Phase 3 will see 10 extra parking stands creates. They are clearly confident of growth and I would expect their longer term plan will see another based airline.

When they've had the opening ceremony, I'll use LBA again. Until then, there needs to be an extraordinarily good reason for me to go anywhere near the place.
