From the Loganair website - pretty clear what their strategy is!:
Loganair is responding to market dissatisfaction around Eastern Airways’ inability to deliver a reliable air service for customers in the North East.UK Civil Aviation Authority data clearly sets out its rival’s performance on the Aberdeen to Newcastle route, where almost a quarter of flights in 2018 were cancelled and only 65.5% departed on time (within 15 minutes of scheduled departure).
Loganair already has strong operational bases in both Aberdeen and Norwich – a route which can be served with a strong level of resilience due to the availability of aircraft and engineering support at both ends – making the routes a natural fit in the Loganair network.
Loganair’s operational performance in 2018, as published by the CAA, highlights the airline’s commitment and ability to deliver reliable and punctual services – ranked 2nd in the UK punctuality statistics with 82.3% of flights arriving within 15 minutes. On-time performance will be a key contributor to the success of these new services, and Loganair is confident customers will recognise its record in delivering punctual services and support the airline’s new venture.

If you read the website blurb, it seems to say the reliability issues are all around Newcastle and it’s silent about Norwich. The Norwich thing seems to be more about schedules from the “right” end of the route.

You clearly have not read the text. Reliability issues and the facts from the CAA website are in reference to the NCL to ABZ route. Nothing to do with the ABZ NWI which Eastern have wet leased to Loganair. So this is not sabotage.
All Loganair are attempting to do is offer a more reliable service between NCL and ABZ on an EMB jet as opposed to the Jetstream operated by Eastern.

To me (I’m probably wrong) it all sounds a bit personal.
You never know when you need a favour. Loganair I’m sure will be privy to what’s going on at Eastern which isn’t coming out into the open so look like they are trying to put the boot in early.

Given the history between the Bonds and Bristows I'm quite certain it is personal!

Can anyone in the know, give any updates on the following:-
G-RJXG has been in Lisbon since 10th Jan19 - is it undergoing major maintenance? Anyone know when it is due back in service?
G-RJXH is also in Lisbon, having flown their from Londonderry. Is it also undergoing major maintenance? Anyone know when it is due back in service?
G-RJXB has not moved from Londonderry since the transfer from FlyBmi to Loganair on 16th Feb19. Is there a problem with this aircraft or money owing for it to be released?
G-SAJH hasn't flown since it was re-registered on 8th Mar19. Is this aircraft undergoing some maintenance as well?
I thought that they would want all the acquired aircraft painted into Loganair colours ASAP, and to be available for flight service.

Even though LM is not a low cost operator, some of their fares (on lots of routes) are hugely expensive. Last quote I tried for SYY was over £280 return. I could go to TFS and back for that.... twice.
Oh well, lets hope their revenue management know what they're doing and don't scare away any potential bookers with silly fares to try and make these routes work

The direct flights from Bournemouth Jersey and Guernsey on a Saturday have been consolidated from 2 separate flights into a single service. The aircraft now operates Jersey-Guernsey-Bournemouth-Guernsey-Jersey. Replacing the previously planned Jersey-Bournemouth-Guernsey-Bournemouth-Jersey W pattern
I have a feeling that this change is the reason that the flights are so expensive on a Saturday

Let's hope they have done the maths and it all works as I think LM are a great airline and it would be very sad to see yet another airline name go in the UK (I'M NOT saying that they will or are about to before anyone jumps on me).but this will depend on how much the public are prepared to pay for these relatively short hops, a public that have got used to £50 return fares to Spain and the like with FR and EZY.
I did look at flying EMA-INV in the first week of June as a change from BE out of BHX but sadly again the fare didn't stack up, BE were much cheaper (and there's only so much extra I will pay for a free cup of tea and a biscuit!) so I will be sticking with BE on this particular trip at least. Shame as I wanted to fly LM again (haven't done for years as they haven't flown out of the Midlands since the 90's when they did BHX-GCI on the STP, those were lovely flights).

Wasn't this one of the problems with flybmi, the cost of their flights? Trouble is with the type of routes they fly and aircraft types being used, I can't imagine there is much scope for bargain basement fares, even on leisure focused routes. There just aren't enough seats on the flight to have multiple seats at bargain fares and cover all the operating costs?

I hope they make a success of themselves but I can see how it will be difficult with this aircraft type. A shift to the ATR could perhaps give them a massive fuel and load factor benefit and instead of jet routes for some routes make the prop a better alternative.

I do not know whether the new routes to SEN from ABZ and GLA will prove a success, but I do think they have more of chance with the EMB rather than with an ATR72 or other turboprop. BACF don't operate turboprops because it's not who they are or the market they're appealing to.
