Sad news. I was on a flight yesterday (row 37) and could hear the crew discussing what they believed was inevitable. Thoughts are with the colleagues who to their credit, operated BAU yesterday.

They might be allocated remotes on landing and I can't comment on that

In terms of the news stories, this feels very like the weekend before the Mon collapse almost exactly two years ago (the time of year when airline balance sheets are at a maximum) I'm afraid - in that case the CAA used it to plan the rescue flights and tickets remained on sale, with (I assume) directors given a nod and a wink from govt/CAA that it was OK to carry on trading despite the decision already having been made on the Friday before the plug was pulled by email to staff early on Monday morning. Non-ATOL bookings were also covered by the govt in that case as, it was said, people on airport floors would not look good during the imminent Tory party conference.
I do hope I'm wrong but this "secrecy" is a well-practiced procedure by the govt/CAA for insolvent tour operators/airlines and in the Mon case even senior pilot managers didn't know until the Monday morning.
Best of luck to all affected.

1025 Heraklion - stand 82
693 Bodrum - stand 81
703 Hurghada - stand 75
679 Dalaman - stand 76
Just spoke to a friend of mine who is a director at a tour operator with some ties to Thomas Cook. He was told today by a director at Cooks that they will go on Sunday. My friend believes he was lying and that it could be tonight or tomorrow.
He reports that todays MCO crews are actually deadheading straight back to base tonight. Whether that is true or not, I don't know.

Just looked at the NATS BHX ground chart and that doesn't look necessarily bad? is a remote stand at these hours unusual or something at BHX?

Not necessarily unusual for one or two, all four might raise some eyebrows but nobody knows the ins and outs. Merely raised the point because the same thing happened to Monarch when they were all parked on remotes. It could quite honestly be a very unfortunately coincidence.

Count up all the £2.50s paid in ATOL protection over the years and I’m sure it’ll cover the £600m. Isn’t this exactly what that fund is for? (Package holidayers rather than flight only obviously)
It is possible that TC will fold on Saturday - but if that was the case, we should be seeing unusual aircraft heading towards Gatwick as a minimum by now if a CAA smooth repatriation is to happen. With Monarch I remember there was a series of Qatar Airways aircraft flying almost in formation from Doha to the UK in advance of Monarch closing
If someone can see something on FR24, I'd be interested to know some aircraft registration details. Otherwise the possibilities are either TC continues to fly on Saturday (and possibly longer) or the repatriation is less smooth than the Govt and CAA might hope

TCVA from Corfu just taxied onto a contact stand at LGW. Please can we have facts only, hundreds of TCX employees will be frantically refreshing this forum for updates. We don’t want to read bs we get enough of that from the company.

I believe some aircraft at MAN are moved onto remote stands during the night anyway as almost all the first set early morning EasyJet flights would need to use Pier B, plus there's no way that all of the based aircraft can be parked at T1 at the same time. Jet2 and Thomas Cook will happily board passengers from Gate 20 at times
