It's a shame that we don't have a Stansted Nostalgia forum similar to the popular Luton Nostalgia as I think it would be a good thing to start especially by someone familiar with Stansted as it was all those years ago.
Yeah Sunday was the highlight at Stansted during the late 1970/80's.
On a Sunday Stansted would seem very exotic as far as the Scandinavian airlines were concerned with the likes of
Braathens 737 (the odd 767)
Busy Bee F27/737
Conair 720/A300/A320
Lynjeflyg F28
Mearsk 720, 737
Scanair DC8/DC10/A300 (later known as Premair)
Sterling 727, DC8, Caravelle
Transair 727, Caravelle
Transwede Caravelle.
SAS also operated quite a few of the Scanair flights with DC8, DC9, DC10, A300
Kar Air briefly with DC8
Finnair briefly with DC9
Sorry to digress but that era of Stansted's history will always bring back happy memories and that's not including what you might see over in the maintenance areas.

I have thought about it actually but I was hoping that someone who are or was local to the airport during that time would start one as my visits to Stansted were very infrequent but my memories are still there and very vivid.

Emirates launch Stansted, with FIRST suites on offer !
Great news and long overdue.
Current timing looks odd, a mix of the usual afternoon arrival and late evening departure, so a seven hour layover.
Also, a brussels sprout aimed at the first poster who asks when the B777 is being up-gauged to the A380.

Emirates
Not forgetting the cargo capacity to their Freight Hub in Dubai,
"Daily service will be operated by the new Boeing 777-300ERs, each offering 216 cubic metres (7,640 cu ft) or 44 × LD3 capacity."

Absolutely brilliant news for STN, EK and MAG. I am not surprised one of the middle eastern carriers have decided to commence operations. Thought it may have been EY or QR first but don’t matter it’s excellent for STN.
On another note have found out the new shore-line checkin from Zone A to current international arrivals is being finalised with CGI work done. With some work already taking place in the old ‘Joes/Bazaar Cafe’. Have heard they want it completed for summer 18? I personally don’t see this happening. But we will have to see.

Have MNG Cargo announced that they will be staying at STN or are they going to return to LTN once the runway works is completed there?
Just to add excellent news for Stansted regarding Emirates it was bound to happen at some point and as Skip rightly points 'long overdue'.
I'm surprised that Air Transat have never considered returning to STN even if it was just one or two flights a week, it would give them good coverage of both south and north London and the surrounding catchment areas.
Hopefully with Emirates arriving at STN next June it might be a stimulus for other long haul airlines to use the airport such as Scoot.

Not forgetting MAOF B720's, AEI CL 44's, Intercontinental DC8-50's (one of which chopped off the tail fin of a Flying Tigers DC8-63 parked on the cargo apron while carrying out a missed approach in low visibility), Highland Express B747, Fedex B727, Instone B170, Tradewinds B707 etc. Great days

I didn't forget any of those and I could name many more than the ones you have listed but obviously I omitted them from my post regarding the Sunday invasion lineup at Stansted as we were only discussing the Scandinavian carriers!
