There was a very recent interview that stated they would be announcing new long haul routes from STN ‘later this year’.

However, given the BHX cutback and these STN issues, I would guess they need to be more sensible and stabilise what they have otherwise they will be forever stretching themselves too thinly and sh*t all over their reputation.

It is such a shame and it’s unfortunate that the traveling public or the public thinking of booking won’t understand that really this is all out of primera’s control, first they get a delay in aircraft delivery then they end up with a really old 752 from over the pond that is proving less than realisable.

I wonder who supplied the aircraft was it Airbus or primera ?

On a positive note, the short haul sun routes to ALC and AGP are doing well running pretty much to schedule and I have seen some positive passenger feedback on social media.

Let hope todays PF41 departs at it’s new ETD of 0130, I have read a lot of passengers stranded in Newyork have taken matters into their own hands and booked themselves on DY flights from JFK to LGW after staff at EWR we’re unwilling to help with information or advice.

I think tonights has been cancelled as well..the EU261 must be killing them..Surely they could have hired in something better than this heap..First used by Air Europe in the UK and latterly by Astraeus..

I wonder if this aircraft is paid for by Airbus due to the delay in delivery?
I guess as a previous post mentioning Titan that we are coming upto the very busy summer season so aircraft from Titan and other reputable airlines with be utilised already.

I hope this mess gets sorted very soon or primera and Stansted reputation in sustainable long haul will be affected yet again.

Hmm - is planning to operate brand new aircraft of a type that you've never flown before on brand new routes from brand new bases totally out of Primera's control? Is the lack of contingency such as the availability of replacement a/c out of Primera's control?

Reminds me of the hapless Highland Express in the late 80s. That didn't do much for Stansted's long haul reputation either.

Highland Express bought a wreck of a 747, and failed to get it into service on schedule - Primera bought brand new equipment and leased in a wreck to cover for late delivery of their shiny new machines.

Perhaps, with the benefit of hindsight Primera might have launched their transatlantic service, from STN and BHX in June to allow some breathing space for the "cock up factor".

Possibly, but that 747 went on to many years of service with Virgin Atlantic. The "Miami Maiden".

An airplane is only as reliable as its maintenance program allows it to be. Several 757 operators are still running at 99% despatch reliability despite the age of the airframe.

Who is doing the maintenance on National in STN?

I seem to recall that once it had been put into services, several months late, it was fairly serviceable, but taking on the airframe they did probably accelerated their (probably inevitable) downfall.

I was looking out of my office window one weekend afternoon in the late 80s,with the tech Highland 747 parked on the ramp outside the old terminal doing an engine run. I have always wondered why an aircraft with a suspect engine was allowed to do a high power engine run on the ramp outside the pax terminal instead of taking it to a remote stand.

I met a couple in Barbados in the late 80s they had travelled on the Lionair Jumbo from stansted had a 16 hour delay .They said the passengers when once boarded got free complementary Rum was this to make up for the lost day of there holiday.

The number one engine was very suspect, push and start sequence was attempt to light 1,2,3,4 but 1 always whined and never spooled up, so they started 2,3,4 then cross bled started 1.

The National 757 now west of Ireland in the company of Ryanair EI-GJP on delivery. The 757 is at 37K feet, while GJP is at 41K feet. The 757 is due at STN at 1828.

Also the new ‘Shoreline’ check-in has opened for trials on some flights. Mainly Aurigny currently.
Should be fully operational end of next week. Currently we have desks 501-508.
We should be getting another 8-12 desk opened by end of June. These will be heading towards international arrivals in the space between the new desk and the side of WH Smith’s.
Thomas Cook are apparently going to be primary user during the summer months on these desk. Though this is very likely to be changed.
