I do reckon KLM would be a nice fit to the STN network. Their recent order of 35 Embraer 195s should permit the airline to expand. They already have LCY nicely covered and with LHR now packed to the gills, I reckon STN should stand a good chance for KL's return. The potential for success is certainly strong, especially when you factor in the wider network via AMS and the fact that demand for long haul in STN's catchment is growing. Perhaps MAG could reinstate/introduce a lounge or two in sat 1/2 which may further STN's appeal to KL (as well as other carriers).
As carrier that operates a least two sometime three daily slot sitters into Heathrow with Brasilians that then hang around T4 for HOURS at a time Plus numerous LCY rotations KLM/KLC arenít exactly short of London capacity !

Thereís no point building an emirates lounge for one daily flight. We were told during training, only when a station serves three daily flights is it worth building a lounge.

Glasgow had a lounge at two daily I think?

KL had a big operation at STN back in the day. What was once the AirUK operation, later KLMuk and finally Buzz. What is now the weatherspoons in satellite 2 was once a KLM lounge. Some of the blue panelling still remains!
Oh thatís brilliant, modern UK aviation right there!

Though we did have the HiFly A388 in Stansted a couple of times. It didnít use any jet bridges, so all passengers used steps and none of the flights where full. If I remember they where just about half full.

Just pointing out that STN hasn't always been a the LCC central that it is today.

Can anyone remember where the MaxJet and No1 lounges used to be, any photos of them or evidence of where they used to be? Were they in the same locations and is this where the rumoured Emirates lounge might be?

Number One lounge was at the far end of satellite 1. Runway end.

Not to sure about satellite 3.

To to be honest it was probably more of a low cost hub back then (MaxJet days). At least in 2019 Stansted has more legacy/full service carriers then it did back then including Emirates with its First suites. Air India coming, SAS, BA thanks to MAG. Hopefully more diversity of airlines to follow.

Turkish Flights

Does anyone else think there will be some new airlines replacing some of the capacity lost by TCX to the Turkish holiday resorts of AYT, BJV and DLM?

Dalaman was 12 weekly in the peak summer whilst Antalya was daily from memory from STN alone. You only need to look at prices on Skyscanner from London to AYT, DLM and BJV to see the flights are in really high demand, there needs to be some uplift in capacity.

Could we see Pegasus putting some direct flights on to these destinations? Or possibly a new entrant such as Turkish Airlines, SunExpress or Correndon coming in with scheduled ops with tour operators buying seats in addition to direct sales?

Still doesn’t make any sense to me. Though I’m assuming it’s in relation to the aforementioned Turkish carriers? English not being their first language, so what’s the issue?

In other news...

Tui have added a flight to Enfidha on a Friday next summer. Showing as ‘other carrier’ so assuming it’ll be Nouvelair or similar. There’s other gaps in the programme on a Thursday and Friday I believe? I’d expect we’ll see some changes/new flights in the next couple of weeks.

I would say that if any crew do not understand English, it becomes a flight safety issue. There are standards to maintain.

There's no mention of crew in the original statement, hence why I probed. Sounds more like a sweeping xenophobic comment if you ask me.

Sounds like an experienced ATC view if you ask me. Some carriers need wrapping in cotton wool when it comes to ensuring safety margins. Pilots from that part of the world calling ďrunway vacatedĒ while still on the centreline does not fill one with confidence.

New routes on a Friday to Skiathos and Enfidha (Tunisia).

Lots of third party flying to Turkey/Third party flying to Palma on Thursday/Enfidha on Friday.

Looks like a gap on a Sunday afternoon, unless I've missed something?

Emirates A380

Has Stansted had an Emirates A380 before?

It looks like they are getting EK37 DXB-BHX which did one approach and went around at BHX.

I heard he parked at FedEx, flight now on the departure board, STD to BHX 2105.
I guess if the double jet Bridge rumours are true, Stansted would be well placed for UK diverts.

Eurowings

Last EW flight operates from STN today to CGN. Apart from a few ski flights to SZG, the airline has now completely pulled out of STN. A shame, bearing in mind they had up to 7 daily flights in their peak just last year.
