EZY

So it looks like AMS, BFS, EDI and GLA will be the routes to remain all served by inbound/non-based aircraft.

It also looks like quite deep cuts for FR over Sep and Oct. Not entirely scientific but two of the routes I was considering have been removed from sale. A friendís trip to family in Slovakia is up in the air with Bratislava reduced to 2x weekly. Might use Vienna instead outbound but that itself has flights marked Ďsold outí

Fascinating numbers for some of the busiest airports provided for Sunday above.

STN charters today inc JOTA RJ100 & interestingly later Wamos A332.

Too early to say I reckon, believe they have put their staff "at risk" so they can go through the process with them, whether they will stay to handle a few flights a day I guess depends on how much EZY are willing to pay them, labour they can control, but fixed costs (like airport rent and rates, GSE etc) they can't, so will it be financially viable for them to stay, only time will tell.

Reminds me of Menzies being in the same situation a few years ago, lost EZY and Jet2 contracts wasn't worth them staying for the small volumes they had remaining so left, could be good news for Swissport though, they have everything in place already and can reduce costs with the synergies they can provide, if I was them I would be knocking on easy's door offering them a good deal for the few flights a day that will still be operating.

Only time will tell, whatever happens though my thoughts are with all those affected by this unique situation that's not of their making, sad times.

EZY

Schedules now in the system for non-based BFS/EDI/GLA domestics, however Amsterdam doesnít appear to be bookable for the winter schedules? Have we had word from EZY that this route is remaining?

Could be an opportunity for KLM to jump in and save the day. They have at Southampton so why not Stansted?

Think the schedules are still work in progress. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves, the same could be said for AF starting CDG or LH taking up MUC but wouldn't see that happening.

I'd be surprised if AMS went unserved or seasonal and BFS, EDI, GLA look sketchy to say the least.

To be honest the domestic routes in the system look about right and are all clearly served by non based units. Thereís not much if any difference to last yearís winter schedule. Amsterdam Iím pretty sure was never a non based aircraft as it usually occupied the 7am slot out of Stansted.

Canít see AF personally. The reintroduction of CDG was a relatively new thing and too much competition with Eurostar ex London. LH I canít see that either in the present situation we face. Maybe in the future but not likely anytime soon.
Itís Amsterdam that has always been a Stansted staple going back to the days of Air UK. KLM would be mad not to pick it up on their Embraers if EZY are to drop it.

EZY

I stand by comments others have made - it is very sad to see EZY close STN-based operations after many years, and my thoughts go out to the EZY team here who are now facing uncertain futures. Signs of EZYs withdrawal at STN had been visible for several years, with route closures and the number of based a/c falling in favour of LGW, LTN and to some extent, SEN, despite their agreement with MAG in 2013 that they would expand services from here. In the light of this, I wonder who would be willing to step in and reinstate some of the now former EZY network from STN? As others have highlighted, AMS has always been a pivotal and successful European route for STN, yet has now been cut to seasonal only. Given this, would KLM be willing to step in and give STN another try?

I was booked on it this coming week, it swapped about three weeks back to non-based.

Its bookable next summer but still on STN base timings. Would be extraordinary for this route to not run. Especially as Southend has gone altogether and down at City they are down to 1x daily. Plus Luton lost the Level/Vueling service, and Gatwick has lost BA.

Iím praying for KL to give it a go as it would open up such a range of connections if itís given the right frequency and timings.

I think we have to be careful about the use of the word seasonal. I can see many routes not operating this winter as airlines try to minimize losses and against a background of of not knowing what havoc Covid will wreak this winter. It isn't gone. After next summer if things look better and maybe there is vaccine many routes may return in winter 2021/22.

EZY have put the AMS route on sale now from the end of October. However a one way fare is £792 and a return is over £1000.

I fear that they may be trying to price themselves off the route. Either that or a big error has been made in the booking system.

I've noticed this as well.. Just checked their fares to AMS from STN from the 5th-12th November and its coming in at a whooping £600 return, excluding luggage. Also noticing that STN-AMS has now been reduced to Thursdays and Fridays (in the winter at least) with just two flights. Could all this be a sign that EZY are about to throw the towel in on this route?
