Actually I think you are right Scottie. Must be my grey cell (singular nowadays) playing up

Huge shout out to AA for giving MAN some proper TLC in terms of hard product at last.
Indeed - not before time. And hopefully their timekeeping will improve - it's been dire the last few months

EZY to GIB
Thanks for the heads up.

MAN based a/c Sun. & Wed. (actually showing from 3 July on web site when I tried June).

The Sunday flight fills one of the two gaps that were showing in the first departure wave. Wednesday is an early afternoon departure.

Yes it is July, my mistake putting May.

There is apparently one more Easyjet route to be announced. Will be to an existing base as it will be 4 weekly, with 1 weekly using a MAN based aircraft and 3 weekly from the other base. I'm not 100% sure of the destination but Madrid seemed to be mooted.

So if it were MAD, we'd have 3 airlines on the route again. I guess circumstances have changed since last time but I would still find it slightly surprising given that EZY are firmly established on LPL-MAD.

Personally, I was a little disappointed that MAN was not on the list of new routes for Lyon or Bordeaux announced recently.

Still, whichever destination it is, 11 based a/c should be kept busy now even if 3 of the rumoured 4 flights are with non-based.

Lyon and Bordeaux are certainly needed, so yes, it's a shame MAN did not feature in their list of new Easyjet routes. Instead we get GIB which is served by Monarch and Madrid, which as you say, is served by Iberia and Ryanair.

Madrid is the perennial pain in the a... for MAN. Ryanair are daily, Iberia Express will go daily at the end of March, and now a potential 4 weekly Easyjet again.

Maybe Easyjet want to try and protect their market share in the face of increased competition.

Oh yeah, well, it's not Madrid then for the new route, it had definitely been talked about again but there is no room in the based schedule, unless an existing route uses away based aircraft, such a GVA?

Gibraltar

Interesting development from Manchester. Sees them going head to head with Monarch who are long established on this route.I wish them well, but they did`nt last too long when they tried it from Liverpool. Hopefully better this time

The frustrating thing with the new Easyjet route to Gibraltar is that their service almost mirrors the Monarch service.

What about Santiago de Compostela? I remember the route being mooted in the summer but it never came to fruition.

Terminal Development

I flew into Chengdu last week, arrived on terminal 2 and then departed from terminal 1 on Etihad. Looking at the terminal layouts I wonder if this is what MAN are basing their development on?

Almost, the only thing is that EasyJet's Sunday service is in the Morning and Monarch's is in the afternoon.

I travel this route regularly and it's good to see some competition, though I will most probably continue to use Monarch... well it's obviously up to my parents as well but we like to usually fly out on a Friday. I hope both routes do well though, Liverpool didn't last long as I believe loads were not good but Bristol has apparently done very well this year so let's hope it goes well anyway.
