Conspiracy theorists would have a field day about OW at MAN as today's CX flight was also cancelled. A passenger was told it was due to a typhoon in HKK. Strange, but the CX 255 landed at LHR at 06.21 apparently and the CX 257 due to arrive early at 14.50.

And no suggestions please about low loads or poor yields. Pax figures on another site showed Saturday's flight had 335 inbound and 340 out. Fancy that, just 5 empty seats. And Spanners has commented previously about the amount of freight carried.

Today's CX landed MAN at 0623 this morning (B-KQY is the aircraft) its just the outbound CX358 that's cancelled - tech issue perhaps ? These things happen occasionally....

It appears to be the outbound Cathay Pacific which is cancelled. B-KQY arrived inbound as CPA357 at 06:23. So I guess the outbound passengers will be able to travel on that aircraft when its departure to HKG has been rescheduled.

Ah, thanks for that, and my apologies. I happened to be in T2 and didn't check the arrivals, but the guy I spoke to had a written note and said a typhoon in HK was the reason for the cancelled departure. Maybe it's a predicted storm that's led to the cancellation, which also happens with flights to the US occasionally.

Thanks to you too Shed. I shouldn't have jumped to the wrong conclusion, which I wouldn't have done had I seen the a/c on the ground!

The guy I spoke to was flying on to Sydney and I heard the CX assistant tell him to contact his travel agent.

Still annoyed about AA though.

The CX flight is indeed cancelled due to a Tropical Cyclone. According to a message on the CX website all flights scheduled through HKG between 10pm today and 2pm Tuesday (HKG time) are affected. Presumably this means today's CX358 might leave MAN sometime tomorrow, whilst Tuesday's CX357 ex HKG will also be affected.

Cool

All flts to Europe tonight are cancelled, due typhoon as stated, not too bad at the moment but due to hit here around 2200. Typhoon warning in place until 1400 tomorrow. Today's 358 will depart 0700 tomorrow, but no inbound flt. Pax protected elsewhere as far as possible.
They've just boarded up the doors in the hotel so could be a bumpy night here!

Notice that TCX is showing MIA as operated by AirTanker during Nov/Dec before returning to own equip when it resumes in May 17. Anyone know what aircraft will be used by Air Tanker?

HKG

My mate lives in HKG. It's in virtual lockdown. Most schools & offices closed- certainly wouldn't want to be flying anywhere near that.
There are also severe thunderstorms in New York, Boston & Philadelphia causing flight disruptions, however, not seen any wx related incidents at Chicago.
I don't know why anyone would book on AA55, it must mean 55% chance of operating (?)

Just advised a co-worker who was looking at a MAN-ORD-??? connection to look at alternatives. An overreaction or commonsense?

You beat me to it Bagso

Seasonal is a good way to launch the route, if it proves a success it's season can be increased.

Another long talked of destination off the list...and more VS/DL investment in MAN. Good news despite the seasonality.

If I'm reading the same article it says final confirmation from DL/VS has been deferred to end of September while they "assess the impact of brexit" on next year's demand.

Great news if it does get final confirmation though - it's about time MAN had a reliable carrier to the US midwest again (yes AA, I'm looking at you !!)
