Summer 2016
Looking ahead for route announcements already for 2016 it looks like 2015 has been another pretty good year. When you think about where we were just after the financial crash of 2008 when even Jet2 were tetrenching back to Leeds the turnaround has been amazing! We now have direct flights to Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Boston as well as Madrid, Vienna, Oporto, Riga and we are even about to get 'exotic' short haul routes like Brindisi I think the recovery has been fantastic!:-)

The ACL slot report for W15 is out.
Incidentally, on the page listing 'New' and major changes for w2015/16, it has RYR as 6 x daily. I thought it was the same for s2016 but the schedules on the RYR web site were now only showing 5 x daily when I checked again recently. (edit: yes, the 15.15 departure in winter not showing for s2016). Still, unless all the frequency increases and new routes are to be operated by away based a/c I imagine the program will require one extra based.
So far, not a bad summer ahead.

I think it's been established that Ryanair will be at least 1 extra based for the whole of summer 16. The programme looks about done, so, unlikely we will see 2 extra based. Brindisi and Malta will be run by aircraft from those bases, Bratislava will be run off a Manchester based aircraft.
Due to the large scale expansion of Spanish services , and the 3 new routes, unless we see any more new away based routes, I think the S16 programme for Ryanair is about done.

Interesting if they were to compete with RYR on it, although personally I would have thought there were one or two unserved German cities that might be viable.

When trying to catch up, I saw this from the 8th Oct. with some subsequent posts about the LPL service. Is this still likely?
With reference to the Chinese visit next Friday, do we know for certain there is an 'event' at the airport in the evening, or is the President simply flying out from MAN after having dinner with Cameron at the Etihad?

Based on the current FR published timetable for S2016 8 based aircraft are required. As LAX-LHR says it is unlikely to rise. There maybe room for the odd additional flight on based aircraft but that is all. Additional by non based is always possible.

September CAA Provisional Stats
The CX Load Factor that Ringwayman mentions was similar to those of some of the other long haul routes:
ATL +8% / LF 85.6%
ORD +7% / LF 82.1%
MIA n/a / LF 87%
JFK +184% LF 92% (AA, DL, TCX flights only and assumes nil pax for PIA)
EWR -1% / LF 93.2%
PHL -16% / LF 75.4%
IAD -11% / LF 83.7% (based on reduction to 5 x wkly from end of first week. if it was 6 wkly or happened later, then LF is lower)
Also worth noting, LAS was up 42% and MCO 12%
Non-US routes LF or Average Loads A/L
EK +5% / LF 86.3% (assumes b777 flights were all 3 class)
EY +4% / AL 327
QR +45% / AL 209
SQ +13% / AL 188
SV +65% / AL 226
TK +45% / AL 150 (based on 3 flights daily - is the 3rd flight daily?)
Overall, good or pretty reasonable with 1 exception I would say. The usual proviso of all flights operating and my calculations being right!
Egyptair was down 10% but not sure how frequency compared.

The 3rd SAS flight to Copenhagen is bookable through the summer season. It moves from the CRJ900 to A320 on all but the Wednesday flight, so, increases again.
Oslo is also daily, as opposed to 6 weekly. Stockholm is 9 weekly and Bergen remains 2 weekly.

Business desk North West is reporting that the visit to Manchester Airport may include a new Chinese route announcement.
They are normally a bit better and on the ball for airport news, with minimal sensationalism and speculation.
One to watch it seems.

I'm going to put money on Air China.
Purely because they hold the route authorities at the China end, is being announced by the President so he's more likely to promote the national carrier, and, as seen as the UK doesn't have a 1 airline per route rule, the UK government could easily grant CA the permissions at this end.

I certainly do not know for sure, but I'd go with LAX_LHR, Air China my quid would go on for the same reasons stated. Interesting LAX_LHR has found something in the public domain sort of backing up the "rumblings". It would make perfect sense from a PR point of view to announce a route like this, with the nations media watching. Be an interesting week next week, and should anything be announced MAN's S16 could be even better than already discussed.

Yes, I tend to agree with you both for the reasons LAX gave.
I hope the last day of the State visit when the President is in Manchester does get national coverage as well as in the North West. The BBC is particular can be a bit unpredictable in that regard.

Looking at the itinerary, it looks like 3 days in London and then a full day in Manchester Friday, presumably after flying up late Thursday. Again there is reference to an 'event' at the airport.

A new service would be good news as indeed would be some momentum on Airport City. We are actually now 2 years on from that announcement so some new buildings going up North side would be grest news.
If we get a date let's hope some joined up thinking between MAG, the airline and the Chinese tourist agency who run the Birmingham flights is put in place ASAP.
Some great tourist opportunities to be exploited.
