12 new routes? I'm trying to think where they could all be to with the combi 733's at EDI. Must be some expansion... can't wait to see the new routes

CabinCrewe

QR have been above 60% loads for a while now. I think going daily will help.

Rumour of Jet2 announcing 12 new routes tomorrow. No further info.
Kefalonia is on the timetable for EDI but with do dates etc so i'm guessing that will be one of the new routes!

The EDI base is the only one that shows no flights beyond April 2016 for its destinations. Kefalonia may well be an indication that the Greek Islands are planned for 2016 with perhaps Turkey, Cyprus and the Canary Islands as well. This would require adding B738s to EDI possibly for this winter 2015/16 for the Canary Islands and then for summer 2016 for the expanded programme.

Meh. not sure what I was really expecting but the only one of interest there is Vienna. Bucket and spaders tend to just redistribute and canabalise rather than generate new pax and with Jet2, rarely offer inbound.

Kefallonia is a new destination for Scotland (for any airline), so that's an interesting choice for EDI. Vienna at 2 x weekly is well timed for city breakers in both directions

"Rarely above the 60's"? Not sure where you got that info from CabinCrew but you need to find a better source.

Actual loads (taking into account some cancellations due to tech B788s) were;
67% March
68% Feb
75% Jan
77% Dec

Unless someone here has inside knowledge we won't know what the yields are but the load factors are a lot higher than you thought CabinCrew.

May be mistaking QR for TK who are certainly struggling with the added competition

Turkish regularly above 60% loads too.

Great news from Jet2 today. Well done to EDI, its a very significant expansion.

I wouldn't say that. Still plenty of Scots who head to NCL or MAN to get their sunshine flights, so pax retained in Scotland is a bonus. Ex-pats offer inbound potential too, though of course demand will be overwhelmingly outbound. Vienna is certainly high time, and very welcome.

one would hope a slightly better performance than previously for the Easter holidays. Lets hope the upward trend continues when EY starts....

Agreed in part. Last July we were looking at booking EDI-FAO for July 2015. Jet2 wanted c.£1200 for 3 of us. Checking NCL-FAO for virtually the same dates showed c.£650. A bit of a no-brainer despite the extra travel time (roughly 90 minutes) to NCL.

So while we haven't gone south for a different destination we have gone south for a lower price.
