Web link is Important information for customers about bmibaby flights

Important information about bmibaby flights
Following the sale of bmi to International Airlines Group (IAG), we have now started a consultation period with our staff to review future options for the bmibaby business.

Schedule changes
As part of the review and as a preliminary measure, we have made some changes to our summer 2012 schedule, as follows:

· From Monday 11th June 2012, a number of routes will no longer operate. Please see table A

· It is proposed that all flights departing from Monday September 10, 2012 onwards will no longer operate and those flights are not available to book at this stage.

· We will continue to operate bmibaby flights to the majority of our summer destinations from East Midlands and Birmingham Airports until Sunday 9th September 2012. Please see Table B.

We recognise this news may be frustrating for customers and we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will do all we can to keep you up-to-date with the latest information and make the process as smooth as possible.

So sorry to hear this news.

At least there is the one small consolation for you guys, though it wont seem like it now, that you have an orderly shutdown and a period of time to prepare, rather than turn up one day to find its all over and you have nothing.

Good luck to all

There will be one group of people across the Irish Sea that will be rubbing their hands with glee, probably plotting the next move as I type. Didn't they have some slogan saying 'bye bye baby bye bye'?

Did you think that Willy Walsh would allow an airline to continue using his initials for a flight code....and worse still sell that airline to someone else, with the possibility of ridicule at a later date?

Sad day and I feel gutted for all baby staff, who, will find out LH has done for their pension entitlements, (as has been previously mentioned on bmi threads), as well as being out of work.

I hope you all find new employment as speedily as possible.

Do you think Willy Walsh and SMB voodoo dolls with 6 sharp, long, hat pins to stick in them, included in the price, would sell well on ebay at the moment?

Ryanair has been working with IAG, BMI’s new owners, to facilitate BMI Baby passengers with bookings to/from Belfast and Birmingham on Ryanair flights from:
Stitch up. The leprechauns weekly golf sessions are obviously working well. Between them WW and MOL will create a duopoly in European aviation.

Very sad for the guys and gals at Baby, ive worked with them and flown with them many times, I rated them well above MoL's outfit and Easy.

As someone who was in this position a few years back as an ex BACON employee I know how you feel.

All I can say is it made me make a career move that has changed my life and now I am as happy as a pig in poo.

Good luck to you all

Very sad to see; a really nice little airline, always good to fly with. Hopefully all staff will find other opportunities in the industry.

It's been a pleasure to fly with Bmibaby on several routes to/from Jersey over the last decade; good crews, fine aircraft - sad that it had to end.

How long will it be before U2 and FR slug it out for control of EMA, among others.

Bmibaby to stop Belfast flights from 11 June

david 1994 Its not good

Bmibaby to stop Belfast flights from 11 June

Bmibaby will cease to operate all flights to and from from Belfast from 11 June, it has been announced.
The company, which transfered to the ownership of International Airlines Group (IAG) last month, has entered talks with unions about its future.
Bmibaby said it would not affect bmi mainline's service from Belfast to London Heathrow.
The company apologised to all customers affected and said it would be providing full refunds.
'Uncertainty'
Peter Simpson, bmi interim managing director, said the company had lost £100m in the last four years and would have to be "realistic" about its options.
"We recognise that these are unsettling times for bmibaby employees, who have worked tirelessly during a long period of uncertainty.
"To help stem losses as quickly as possible and as a preliminary measure, we will be making reductions to bmibaby's flying programme from June.
"We sincerely apologise to all customers affected and will be providing full refunds and doing all we can with other airlines to mitigate the impact of these changes," Mr Simpson said.
'Disappointed'
George Best Belfast City Airport confirmed 420,000 of its passengers had flown with bmibaby in 2012.
Its chief executive, Brian Ambrose, said: "Like thousands of passengers, we are very disappointed at this decision.
"Strong advanced bookings proved there was significant demand for the sunshine routes operated by bmibaby.
"However, I am confident that we can attract other airlines to the fill the routes vacated by bmibaby," Mr Ambrose added.
Bmibaby services from East Midlands to Amsterdam, Paris, Geneva, Nice, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Newquay, and from Birmingham to Knock and Amsterdam, will also end on 11 June.
It is also proposed that all bmibaby flights will cease to operate from 10 September.
Protection
The Independent newspaper's travel editor, Simon Calder, said the holiday plans of thousands of passengers would be affected.
"Anybody with a booking is going to be getting an email. All you are entitled to is a refund.
"It is going to take three weeks to process," he said.
Mr Calder said the only people with protection were those who had booked a package holiday - ie, those who had not booked their flights and accomodation separately.
The airline, which was formed as part of the bmi group, was launched in 2002.
It flies from Belfast, the east Midlands and Birmingham to 36 European destinations.

Huge shame. Hope RYR and EZY don't take over and eventually kill every short haul airline in the UK and ruin everything...could happen.

Jobs would be safe though!

Some wouldn't like the company, but the job... would still be safe!
