85% load factor for first full month on KLM isn't bad. Speaks for itself in that the route is being upgauged to a E190 for half of the winter season.

Sounds good with Klm upgrading the aircraft? When will it take effect! I'm surprised they aren't doing it sooner. A lot of days totally sold out! I do wonder why there are no flights on a tues or sat for the winter period seeing as it's off to such a good start. Anyone shed any light?

Lack of aircraft as the F70s are basically knackered and the time change is to better reflect the connections esp into mainland China. Apparently no nite stop yet as the airport opening hours make a 0630 departure too late they wanted at 0600 departure

Would be great to see FR bsck at belfast, they could base their sole 737-700 at BHD with 4 LGW rotations a day
I think a few interesting months at BHD
IAG could pull EI from belfast once the 319s go
Increase LHR by 1 or even 2 on certain days and still have spare slots to use on more profitable routes
And replace the Sun routes with Vueling if they are financially viable

Well EI's sunshine routes have grown really well for June, especially PMI.

It seems clear to me that easyJet's hand will be forced in the case of the London Gatwick slots for flights to Belfast, and I suggest City, in order to keep Ryanair out of the local market.

Ryanair have hit their domestic operations at STN already with entry onto GLA and EDI, but to have Ryanair coming onto more routes at LGW is the last thing easyJet would want.

I'd put my money easyJet going after this at this stage....

Am I missing something here! Just a thought though why would Aer Lingus not continue on with the Bhd to Lgw. It wasn't that long ago there was a rumour of ba starting this route too. As Lhr is concerned if they reshuffled slots and used them to compliment each other I.e one every few hours. They could even put a 321 on the route and the travelling public wouldn't really be any worse off. Just a thought!!

Because IAG will be forced to sell 10 LGW slots under the new merger and some have to be either from DUB or BHD. Easy choice once EZY buy the slots.....

I'm not sure some of the slots have to be surrendered from Belfast or Dublin, from what I've read IAG have to surrender the slots and they can be bid for;
the slots are being sold for use to Belfast and Dublin only.

I would not be surprised to see WW on a visit to Belfast to keep the business community warm and fluffy if not even invited to Stormout to reassure MLAs

Boal car park @ ikea to close

So Boals have been refused planning permission to use a car park as a car park.

Strange thing is there has been illegal car parks operating around the international without planning permission for years. One rule for some and a different rule for others. This country is bonkers.

Belfast airport car park owner Boal's angry letter to minister - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk
Yes seems strange that they can't use Ikea given its purpose as a car park is established.

But it is obvious why the City have taken it so far, with car parking being probably the main revenue stream for the airport.

No need to go to Dublin, plenty of competition at Belfast International with very good rates.

Parking

I don't think BHD is really a parking and flying kinda airport. It strikes me more a drop off ñ go for a day or twos business but could be wrong. Was planning permission not applied for to multi story the short stay?
