My heart goes out to all of you who now find yourselves out of work in these desperate times. The last rumours I heard were that all was looking rosy for a buyout and (finally!) some newer aircraft. Sad news indeed. I had five great years of flying there, best flying job ever for sheer variety (even if we did whinge about the night flights to Kazakstan and even though I was made redundant not once but twice).
Here's hoping you all come out of the other side of this and find something else soon. There but the grace of god...

Very sorry to hear this news.
Yet again a great set of people that I feel for, especially at this time of year. I have used them many times and if any of you are reading this, sincere thanks for all your co operation and help over the years.

It was a very sad morning this morning at EAAC, particularly as an investor had been negotiating to take over the airline for several months. Everything was agreed & then he suddenly disappeared.
My heart goes out to all the EAAC staff, enjoy the festive season as best you can guys and gals.

Another 'Brick' falls from the wall!!
Iv'e lost count now how many we have lost this year...
EAC were a reliable well ran Company, And I personally thought PS would survive this 'Difficult' period, But sadly not!!
The other sad thing is, He was actually personally interested in the Aviation Business he was running, Unlike some current Airline Bosses who don't seem to have the passion!!
I think there is more of a 'Deep' root to this problem of Airlines/Companies going under, Take the British population, There not interested in Aircraft or Aviation?
They wouldn't know the difference between a 'Bus' and an Airbus?
As they always joke getting on their flights - 'Oh it's just a bus with wings on' how many times are we 'Sick' of hearing that one?
If the interest isn't there, Then the investment isn't there is it?
People would rather spend their money on a 'mobile' phone or an 'Overpriced' car than spend it on a Holiday or a Flight!!
If the people of this Country supported our UK Airlines/Operators more, Then we may have averted some of the Airline failures of this year?
What I mean by supporting is, By booking Holidays, Flights with UK Airlines/Operators instead of booking with foreign ones.
The other main problem here is, The population doesn't understand how an Airline works? All they see is a Travel/Call Centre operator pressing buttons, And that's it!
I know I am having a moan, But I am getting 'frustrated' now with all this 'Bad' news, Although I am not personally affected, It still has a 'Knock On Effect'!!
And the 'So called' Govt = They don't need Airlines they have the good old RAF to transport them around, Even thou they are running (them) the RAF on a 'Tightrope'!
As I have said in another post, It's funny how people have the money for A 'Silly' & Pointless Xmas, But not the money to book Holidays & Flights!!
You maybe think I'm talking rubbish, But just think of all those extra Holiday & Flight bookings that could be made by the population of the UK, But are not booked because they don't think about the 'Struggling' Airlines, And the fact that it is only time now before there will be no Airlines in Business?

I worked for EAC the first time black wednesday hit on Feb 17th 2004, not a nice experience.
All i can say is my heart goes out to the people of EAC who have just lost their job 24 days before chrsitmas.
RIP EAL and good luck to all those that made it a fab place to work in its hay day!!! i loved it

It will also sadly be the end of the 737-200 in the history of UK Airlines as well, A much loved 'Workhorse' for the last X amount of years.
All because the 'greedy' Banks & Finance Co's won't help keep them alive!!!!

Also with regards to your comment about booking holidays and flights with UK airlines and operators, the paying customer has little control over who they fly with when booking a package holiday. For many people who use the smaller regional airports that choice is limited even further and foreign carriers are usually the only option.
I am sorry to hear that another airline has gone bust just as I am sorry to hear about the Aston Martin, Credit Suisse and HSBC staff who are also losing their jobs today.

Sorry to hear this news. Flew with them to Corfu in August and although those 737 200's where showing their age both trips where a pleasure. Flight crew and cabin staff were a credit to the company. Good luck to all those affected.

I'd much rather fly easy and keep the cash in the UK than on FR where the profits go to that thieving gypsy MOL.
Come on folks lets revolt and stop booking on FR en masse and keep the UK airlines flying.

You have surpassed yourself with that passionate post. Fact is, people are SKINT, and if they feel able to afford a holiday will take the cheapest option (I said skint, not stupid). There is a slowly building economic crisis which, even you as a TOM driver should recognise.
The 732, great a/c as it was is a tired old bird now, well beyond its BBE of date! Allow it to pass gracefully!
As for 'overpriced' cars, pick your make and model, get down to your local dealer and negotiate. They will bite your arm off for a hugely discounted sale just now.

staff affected good luck.
I totally agree with fincastle84... Let's not give the boss a hard time.
As one of those affected in 2004 - and having been there since the early
days, I know that, having sold the majority of the business in
2002, he then took it back over only after
the "management consultancy" did what they did. Just in time, in fact, to
take all the flak from the (few) ignorant and misinformed
staff who
were generally too junior to know any better. And let's face it, it lasted this
long in trying times... He clearly has had to take tough decisions in tough
times. Good luck to all.
I had some of my most interesting and informative times in aviation with
them. Thanks for that.
