Another Airline goes bust

European Aviation Air Charter......... Just gone bust.

Little Blue 30th Nov 2008 16:11

Again?!!!!!

jetstream7 30th Nov 2008 17:26

captplaystation, Ozjet were sold earlier this year so no links to PS anymore.

Dougie McGuire, what's the source of your info?

Airline was still flying earlier today I understand ('Alpha Echo).

Dougle Mcguire 30th Nov 2008 17:34

AE is on it's way to the States as we speak. It's technically a private flight to Indianapolis. The word is that it's going to the desert to be laid to rest.......... Don't think so.

CABUS 30th Nov 2008 17:52

Do they also operate the Palmair flights?

davidjohnson6 30th Nov 2008 18:05

Dougle - do you happen to have a web link about this ? Google didn't come up with any significant news...

RoyHudd 30th Nov 2008 18:13

Very sad...more jobs gone, and probably very suddenly. It feels awful when you get the news. Sympathy.

RingwaySam 30th Nov 2008 18:50

Very sad news

Do they also operate the Palmair flights?
Wikipedia shows there only 737-200 (Palmair) as Wet-leased from, and uses the air operator's certificate of, European Aviation Air Charter

electricdeathjet 30th Nov 2008 19:06

I am so sorry to hear this, I hope that everyone gets what is owed to them and that pr**k Stoddart doesnt shaft everyone again!
I really wish the very best of luck to all in the firing line....

I thought they went bust years ago. How many airframes did they operate?

TBE.

Basil 30th Nov 2008 21:49

Shame, good people, fun outfit - pity about the boss :*

Mach E Avelli 30th Nov 2008 22:07

EAAC is no longer propping up Ozjet. Paul S flogged it to a like-minded individual earlier this year, reportedly for 'MILLIONS'. At least that was the boast at the time.

loopylee 30th Nov 2008 22:28

so whos gonna be flying palmair flights now??

Flightrider 1st Dec 2008 05:43

Is this confirmed? I can't find anything official about it and also knew that one or two of the 737-200s were about to be permanently retired as they were coming due for major checks which it wasn't worth doing. Could this be a case of someone putting two and two together and getting nineteen or is there indeed a problem?

lwaw1uk 1st Dec 2008 06:35

Jet2 are doing todays Palma air Flight..

EUROPEAN AVIATION: WE'VE RUN OUT OF MONEY (From Bournemouth Echo)

Cobham's In Flight Refuelling is also letting 100 people go nearby

And Palmair are looking for new planes to fly as they borrowed theirs from European

Bad old day for Bmth really!

CABUS 1st Dec 2008 09:14

Another stupid question coming up, is inflight refulling FRA? I have friends who fly for them. I never thought they would have a problem as they work on contracts for the NAVY from BOH doing some pretty cool flying!

Goffee 1st Dec 2008 10:00

FRA

Nah CABUS,

FRA are a different firm [EDIT - although part of Cobham - didn't know that] and, I'd imagine, a very happy bunch of campers, right next to the MoD's money trough, given their RAF/Navy love-in.

IFR is based in Wimborne, down the road

Le Tirer 1st Dec 2008 10:47

All part of Cobham Plc.

FR Aviation (FRA) operate out of BOH (and Teesside)

Flight Refuelling Limited (FRL) have a factory in Wimborne manufacturing in-flight refuelling equipment amongst other things.

Although almost 100 jobs are being cut at FRL, the Cobham Director of Communications does say:
“We would like to achieve this reduction by voluntary means as much as possible and will make all reasonable attempts to find suitable alternative employment within FRL and sister companies.”

A Very Sad Day

It was a very sad morning this morning at EAAC, particularly as an investor had been negotiating to take over the airline for several months. Everything was agreed & then he suddenly disappeared.
Paul Stoddart did everything he could to make it work & put in a lot of his own money in an attempt to keep it going, so please, no more rude comments about him.
No, I'm not an accountant, just another ex employee now sadly no longer employed by what was one of the happiest companies in the world.
My sincere best wishes to all my ex colleagues for a happy & successful future.
PER ARDUA AD ASTRA.
