Not Blind.they Can See Whats Going On!

The travel trade in Canada seem to have written Flyglobespan off. They got rid of their local Manager and have been tardy in paying their accounts to suppliers and ground handlers. Transport Canada fined them in Calgary for non-compliance with the Passenger Protect Program last year. Everyone else is already off the mark with their 2010 programs but the Flyglobespan website continues to say, "Come Back Soon"...

Well said Voetsak the Canadians are not fooled and have read them well.2 bob outfit shrinking only mater of time.

I also heard the loan did not come through, as they had nothing to put up for security..
no doubt didy oh and the others will have a reply -brown noses.hahaha

I'd heard may be JED-BKK or JED-KUL.

It would be nice if they do both.

'FG on MoD

'OD &/or 'PT for NAS

'NA on the SFB's.

Sorted.

Air Transat and Canadian Affair have added extra flights between Glasgow and Canada while a new operator is launching flights from Gatwick to four Canadian cities. Clearly the demand is there, Globespan just have no interest in serving it.

DADDY-OH:

i had also heard of the JED-BKK sector, and that would work well for NAS as the Saudi's really enjoy going to BKK, infact, Saudi airlines has huge loads in the summer to BKK, so i think we may just see that sector coming through for NAS.

with regards to JED-KUL....that seems to be close to confirmed i think....

sounds like a busy summer for the 767's....just not to Canada though.

Variety is the spice of life, Old Boy.

You know, I can't believe some people think that GSM should continue with a route when they know it's a loss maker. It beggars belief.

I'd heard that one of the four AOC's that the CAA has issued was for a B757/767 operation & with Random Flyer's 'New Operator' ex-LGW it sounds like a re-launch of ZOOM? I smell a payrise.

Interesting times ahead...

Scottish budget airline faces collapse as rescue delayed

According to "The Guardian", "Globespan still waiting for E-Clear's white knight deal to be approved by regulators". See;

The article seems to confirm what l had heard, in that it was not an investment but more a takeover.

As some of you are aware I worked a Colinton for about 15 months, I should have axes to grind (notice pay, treatment etc) but these would be with TD as it was him personally who treated me such so therefore could not give a toss about him however the crux of the matter is there are some fantastic people working there some I still call friends and for their sake (and not TD and hanging on cronies, yes RG,KB,DS&BC that includes you!) I hope the company survives, I also hope that it is taken over and TD is ousted because as a travel agent he is the dogs but as an airline man he certainly is not.

Thomas Cook subbed GSM to do holiday flights this summer - I would imagine TCX would have gone over GSMs state of play with a fine toothcomb as they would not want the embarassment of changing airlines mid-summer !! I do hope GSM survive as their on board crew are great , just wish they would add a bit of time to some of their unrealistic schedules .

Looks as though the investment is due to be publicly announced later today as reported in Travel Weekly today.

This investment will allow GSM to expand over the next few years.

Plenty of work now coming in, with the B763ERs all on contract work over Winter and 1 B738 on charter to operate Red Seas Hols, with more work for MOD over the next few months.

And? Thomas Cook (and others such as Thomson) were using Futura Airways last year for holiday charter flights, that didn’t stop Futura going out of business in September2008.

It would not be embarrassing for Thomas Cook to “change airlines mid-summer”. This happens all the time with holiday charter flights. The majority of holiday charter passengers couldn’t care less if there flight is operated by Thomas Cook, FlyGlobespan, Spanair or Monkey Cat Flying Pig Airways. They majority won’t even notice what airline is operating there flight.

Thomas Cook using FlyGlobespan in the summer months gives zero insight into Globespans survivability.

Trouble at Globespan?

From today's Aviation Industry News:

Globespan edges towards administration
Globespan Airlines, the low-cost carrier and its affiliate package holiday company, FlyGlobeSpan.com is one step closer to administration having failed to receive much needed investment. The company is on deadline for an investment and faces closure should it not receive a last-minute capital injection. Funds promised by Halcyon Investments, an investment company run by E-Clear, have been blocked as the airline must gain regulatory approval before it can receive the sum. However, E-Clear has SkyEurope's administrators on its tail; believing that the company owes EUR14.6m in costs pertaining to flight reservations. The Scottish airline has been under strain for some time and was close to administration a month ago.
