Simonchunder and others with third rate sources of information.

Try and get a few facts before you post.A good source is the CAA...type stats into the search box and you will find some.

Throughout 2009 GSM had the second highest load factor of all UK 737 operators listed (most recently 83% for the 800 - Thomson were the first with 85.4%).

Another key measure is aircraft utilisation. Thompson first with 12.6 hours / day; GSM second with 12.5 for the 800. No one else even close.

Along with every other airline in the UK our yeilds have been hit (that happens in a recession).

In the 35 year history of this company it has only once made a loss. It made a profit last year and will be in profit this year.

The Red Sea Resorts contract was a long term contract taken from Monarch. It will only be for six months if we screw it up. Anticipated contract length is measured in years not months; more rotations planned with each six month renewal.

There are a lot of other airlines that will go belly up before GSM do.

Why rush in if you're not certain that there'll be a market?

Canada programme will be on sale for Summer 2010 soon.

We're sponsoring Kilts for Kids on November 27th too and have just been awarded Best Holiday Airline 2009!

Load factors are very high for the start of Winter 09, many flights leaving and arriving almost full.

Much higher profits expected for the end of financial year just past. Things are definitely looking good for GSM.

4567 if you really need to to get to Canada there are other options! It's a sensible move if they feel it won't make money. However if there is no Canadian program from Globespan will that be the first since the 1980s?

They used to fill Worldways TriStars and DC8s a plenty from PIK, often two a day in the summer peak. I guess people have way more choice these days, aside from the fact that it baffles me they use YHM which makes PIK look accesible. 80s PIK that is.

I don't think there is a risk of Globespan going bust, they seem well funded, more likely is that they will move out of the flying business, i cannot think that they got involved with the job of flying people around to end up sub-ing aircraft to India, Haj and the Falkllands, it may be profitable but its not core, is it? so ego trip or a case of having to do it?

Let's be honest there is way too much capacity in the market at present and Ryanair will make life more difficult next year on Scottish Med routes.

I would not be surprised to see them sell the flying bit to Jet2 all the more so if Jet2 get the 767

If Globespan do operate Canada for 2010, they may pick up business from C.Affair since they dropped the EDI-YYZ, mind you YHM still baffles me.
I was going to book YYC with GSM for 2010 but ended up booking on the TCX flight from GLA.

Hmmm looking slightly less likely now apparently 3 of the 763's will be busy on lease G-CEFG Falklands, G-CEOD & G-CDPT looks as if they're going to NAS Air from MAR 10-SEP 10. That would leave G-SPNA for SFB, unless G-CEFG wont be utisised for the MOD everyday and can run Canada. Or leasing in a new aircraft.

I am sure the remarks 'Mar 10 - Sep 10' next to G-CEOD and G-CDPT will be the time it will be operating for GSM and then back to Nas Air for Hajj 2010.

Just to show that they will be opearting next year, look here: http://www.flyglobespan.ca/
