Thomson Airways
Spanish TV reported very high winds in the Canaries today. Could be your answer.

It's interesting to note that the crew had enough fuel for two go arounds. The satandard missed approach is now also a lengthy one, which would try to be avoided. Two go arounds would indicate extra fuel carried for events such as high winds.

G-TUIJ
peterhr,
According to 'all things 787', the next B787 to be built is Thomson's first B787-9, due to be built in Charleston for delivery end of May 16/beginning of June 16.
I assume that this will be G-TUIJ, as there is no other planes listed for the TUI group until then.

Are the new Thomson 787's configured differently inside? Read something somewhere that TUI are putting an extra few rows of seats in to their fleet to carry more passengers.. Will this be all the 787's or just the new ones?

TOM866 NCL - CUN
Seen that TOM866 NCL – CUN is showing a 2 hour delay this morning. Anyone have any details as to the reason why? TUID is operating the flight and it wasn’t delayed inbound from SFB. I have a vested interest as am due to be flying on the same a/c tomorrow morning after it positions into EMA…

I believe it flies in to Stansted on the 29th for a PR event before positioning out to MAN to enter service.

The EMA-CUN left 2 and a half hours late. I noticed it flying low over Kirk Langley, 5 miles east of Derby. I thought it was going in circles but then it went west! It was G-TUID, so the above poster might be late for his Margareta!

TUIB has just positioned at EMA due to the late Cancun arrival so plenty of Dreamliner activity at EMA today with the CUN flight now due in at 10:25 and the SFB due out at 10:30, might be worth a drive up!

I must say a big well done and Thank you to all the TOM crew who have given up their scheduled day and nights off to fly through the night to go down to NBE to collect all the customers who have been affected by the Tunisian crisis.
I believe over 20 flightdeck and 75 cabin crew are doing this some operating quite long distances away from their home bases and if all goes to plan all the aircraft should be back in time to operate the planned Sat flight programme so no kick on effect.

Without wanting to kill the mood, it's probably safe to say that most if not all of the crew operating rescue flights would've been on standby. So technically they would've just been called on duty, rather than giving up their days/nights 'off'.
A swift response from Tui nonetheless
