easyjet rumour
speaking yesterday brad miller the new md made this comment
Such a strategy is possible despite the loss of easyJet in January when the airline said it could not make its East Midlands routes viable.
Miller says a new chief executive and new direction at the airline could lead to a rethink of its East Midlands assessment.

He also commented on how he would like to get some direct longhaul routes to India and the us and would like to focus on passenger services as cargo is doing well but would like to see more charter routes as the low cost routes are doing well already at the airport and would like now to expand more charter flights as he comments people will start see the difference at the airport around jan/fen time. Time will tell but sounds promiseing for the airport

To back that statement up further... future routes and destinations are currently being evaluated with a number of airlines... one of which is with Jet Airways (of India) and El Al.

Thats funny, as Jet airways are apparently pretty much firmed up for MAN for summer 2011.
Either the rumour mill got its wires well and truly crossed, or maybe a wholesale 'buy one get one free' within the MAG group.

Sorry to be the party pooper, Jet Airways won't be expanding in the UK outside London anytime soon.
Normally, with an airline such as jet, Id agree with you, but there are a few different people who arnt connected to each other at the airport who seem to be hearing differently.
MAN is Jets official diversion airport for Tatl and UK flights, and apparently the head honchos at jet have been into MAN 2-3 times since mid october, and now Brad Miller has said he was speaking to Jet, so maybe had a meeting with them whilst they were at MAN, so there is obviously credability to the rumours of visits.
Added to that, the rumour is 3-4 weekly, and it just so happens there are 5 days to fill in the A330 flying programme.
May be getting a 2+2=5 situation, but it all seems encouraging now.
The only thing I would say is, regarding EL AL, is there a large enough Jewish population to support the route, or are LTN/MAN/LHR too easy alternatives for midlands travellers.

So they kick East Midlands Flying School out to build a road to the DHL apron and then well build a hangar on the site of EMFS. So they didn't need to kick EMFS out did they.
However in the whole scheme of things I would expect RVL to give a much better financial return.
One thing I have thought about EMA for many years is the sheer lack of planning when it comes to building hangers. They seem to be scattered all over the place. Perhaps its a good job the Qualitare hangar never got built.

Elevated Walkway
It seems the construction of the extension of the elevated walkway to allow its use by both inbound and outbound pax may be a little closer. A revised design for access to the arrivals hall at the Eastern end of the terminal has just been submitted.
Let's hope it's not too long before it is built as the current arrangements are far from satisfactory.

The new route from ryanair they are to increase capacity on 4 other Spanish routes I am led to believe. I'm slightly confused about the elevated walkway planning application. And does anyone know if they are going to ever extend the runway?

I think the increase will come from TFS, AGP, ALC and PMI, with TFS 1extra, and the rest with an extra 2 flights per week. Which makes me wonder how many a/c will ema have this summer, 7 or 8?
Not sure if we will get any new routes other than seville, would be nice to have matla, fez or Nimes back.
