When BA operated at Bfs ( and I assume BD as well ) one of the baggage belts in arrivals was set aside for pax arriving from outside EU but who had connected through Lhr, but still had to clear customs. Will this operate again for the EI pax from Lhr and Ams who are connecting from long-haul off BA and KL ?

I'm assuming BFS has a "Blue Channel (European Union flights)" and a "Red channel (Non-E.U.)".

The passengers that have started their flight outside the E.U. will have to walk through the Red Channel. Their red stripped baggage tag will signal this to Customs Officials.

BHD alleged incident

Just heard that a Dash at BHD had an engine fire at the end of the runway. One Isle of Man flight diverted to BFS, others have a slight delay, may be holding??. Sorry with the lack of comprehensive details just now...

Yup did indeed. The Manx2 was the only divert. All others got in. Flights are just now starting to depart again. The delay was mainly due to hydraulic fluid that had leaked onto the runway. Airport is now fully operational again.

The amount of incidents/accidents that happen at BHD makes me wonder sometimes. I know of no other airport that has so many reports of faults with the aircraft that use it. No wonder they willl have to bulldoze East Belfast for safety reasons.

Cheers

Cheers for explaining to people about our rule 1 and 2!!! it is very annoying for crew on board trying to get people seated!! esp when we have 130 pax!! we do explain to them why we have the rows blocked and that there can sit there once the seatbelt sign goes off!! but there do think its cos we cant be bother doing our check etc!! which is totally un-true!!

No1 sitting at the back!!! The reason why the girl at the back off the air craft was saying the pa's is because she was doing her annual line check! The NO1/ more senior cabin crew member would have been seated at the front!..

cheers!!

A lot of rumours floating around about various buy overs. One of them was FR Buying LS, interesting situation for BFS. I was told that BFS didn't push out the boat for FR to set-up because EI wouldn't be happy. And with LHR and possible TA operations BFS took the EI option, knowing that FR would be restricted at BHD to cause too much damage. So, if FR bought over LS would this be a back door for FR into BFS which would be a very crafty move by MOL to get right at EI in their new BFS base.

Oh here we ago again the victor meldrew brigade have woken-up. Oh is alright to slate BFS. But how dare one make an observational comment on even the aircraft that touch down on the golden, soon to be extended runway, of the holy grail, I am now bowing down facing SE towards BHD. Please forgive me for I indeed have sinned!!!!

Just been pricing flights Belfast to Man. Tax etc on both WW and BE to Man are similiar. However, coming back from Man WW charge about £16, BE are quoting £40. I find this amazing.

No gate,

Your statement was a reflection on Airlines that use BHD and questioning their Safety standards, nothing to do with the airport, when you bring in US into the light with statements like:
(No wonder they willl have to bulldoze East Belfast for safety reasons). means you are also refering to the operators in a way that they are doing something wrong or unsafe!
So when you step on the toes people who earn their bread and butter from BHD expect the onslot.
You pulled the pin!

As for the airport they have pi**ed us off with moving the staff car park out into the sticks(for a short period over Xmas,my AR*E! thats the last we will be in the short stay!).

Regards

(No wonder they willl have to bulldoze East Belfast for safety reasons).

I have exaggerated a story from the news yesterday in that planning restrictions have been put in place for a distance beyond the runways to all uk airports. However as BHD is situated in a residential area, the news report focused on the fact that planned developments (oval redevelopment) etc maybe affected. It also mentioned bulldozing of houses in the future. So I used a little light satire here not to be taken that seriously.....

Is EI enjoying better loads between Bfs - Ams. Get the impression that some of their flights just after Xmas seem to be full. Am I correct?

It's been two weeks! The Spring and Summer will be more important and if things continue to do badly on routes there will be changes but I think there will be an improvement.

In the short term, Geneva is probably doing well or at least better than other routes after Christmas.

Reading the Easyjet thread. 2 things

1) Manchester to be a new base with over 50 destinations. I wonder if BFS will be one??. Ryanair also issued a statement regarding expansion at MAN, so maybe a BHD-MAN route??

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....nair_to_expand

2) Aircraft to be based at Bournemouth and one route is BFS
