Alternatively you can look up the word for Flyerguy

WHich states that somebody who wants to travel for nothing and still moans about the service one gets, how much he thinks he is saving by paying for bags of crisps himself, buying Cava rather than champagne and swigging outside the terminal out of a plastic bottle disguised as Evian water, paying for check-in, moans about going through the security procedures especially in the shell suit queue, along with his personal suitcase which weighs about 30kg and thinks that it can go above somebodys head just so he can save a few pennies.

Eastern BRU-SOU

I see the route is being cancelled from April 27th(GDS message Yesterday). As this was three a day route, thats a significant amount of aircraft time. Does anyone know what they are now planning to do with the aircraft?

Why, park it at Ronaldsway, depository for aircraft that airlines can't think of anything useful for them to do (VLM). And it will keep another J41 that flies only 3 times a day company.

Will probably book SOU-NCL-ABZ to get on the S20 and ABZ-LBA to get on the J41. Brilliant at £49.30 and £49.50 respectively incl. taxes.

Eastern closes SOU base

Aeromaniac.......your info is not quiet right......The SOU base is the SOU based a/c that does the SOU/BRU route. This does not affect the northern bases serving SOU ie ABZ NCL and LBA.

ABZ has a number of routes lost of late - CWL, OSL, KSU, KRS, LPL to name but 5. (I use the word "late" loosely re CWL!)

Could they redeploy the J41 up here - the first 3 might be of interest to someone like T3?

What about the SOU-Angers route then?
While I dont know if T3 would do this, it could be operated from another base if T3 wished, (such as LBA-SOU-Angers-SOU-LBA)

T3 never put up a fight
What are they doing on ABZ-NCL, NCL-SOU, LBA-SOU and NCL-CWL? Putting up a fight

Eastern have recently increased the weekday LBA-SOU frequency to 4 rotations. This is despite FlyBe operating 3 rotations a day. Definitely putting up a good fight.

Sou-lba

Yeadon- I'll think you find they've just pulled it back to 3 daily. So much for the fight then!

Looks like you are right. I also note though that the LBA-INV is back on with 4 flights a week. Is this back by popular demand?

I like Easterns style, sit back and watch, live and learn.

They'll ride the storm and come out on top .

Flybe pulling back their shedule at some bases due to lack of funds (and pax).

Their bubble will burst at some point. Ba might have 15% but please, how long can they go on spending money without filling seats?

Reading on the Highland thread re T3's attempts at sourcing more Saab 2000s, proving difficult.

Lake gave an interview last year about acquiring Dash 8s (I assume he meant used Srs300 examples).

Is that still viable, especially if they cannot immediately source more Saabs, or were 8's never a likely proposition.

There's always the Embraer...

Hardly representative of the majority of Flybe bases!!

Yes they have announced a reduction at NWI but this is solely related to the CDG and GCI routes. 'Lack of funds' - not sure where that comes from. Lets not forget that in the past few months Flybe must have splashed the cash to obtained prime slots at LGW for both the NCL and ABZ routes.

Of all the LLC's Flybe have the highest number of business passengers and are less exposed to the credit down turn than U2 and certainly less so than FR who carry far more discretional travellers. Lets await the 2007/2008 financial results from Flybe which I think could be quite suprising given the inclusion of the BAConnect routes.

RT

RL has had the Embraer before and it costs too much to run, especially on sectors which are only 1 hour, apparently did not become cost effective until you hit the 1.5hrs flight time.

Can not see the point in the Dash 300, too slow
