Eastern Airways

Does anyone have any information regarding expansion plans for this airlne? Is an intresting development the idea that they may be taking on some of the ex BA Connect 146's. New routes?

There are a lot of opportunities for expansion by Eastern, they specialise in niche business routes and need to be careful. Two recent examples, Inverness - Newcastle and Newcastle - London City both failed to attract the numbers of pax required and the London City route had a double whammy effect with the airport greatly increasing its fees, making the route non- viable with a small aircraft. I still hope they might consider ABZ - NCL - LCY with a larger aircraft which might work.

It would be nice if Eastern considered Exeter with the larger aircraft (Don't really want the Jet Streams) as we handle enough of their diversions.

The Saab 2000 and the Jet aircraft could be used on services to destinations not currently served by Flybe....Brussels for example.

I would hope that Eastern will look closer to home and consider expansion at Humberside. Brussels and Southampton would work.

True, Humberside is poorly served by Eastern compared to the other airports they operate to and from. In fact, the whole airport could do with a bit of a boost.

Don't think this is correct - I thought it was the end of the introductory period for new routes. Not quite the same thing.

forget humberside

Best thing Eastern can do is wate and pick up the better drop outs from the BAcon rape. FlyMaybe will not be taking on lots of routes that are not good for the Q400 because of low pax numbres:eek: these coud be good for the J41s of Eastern where yeald is more important than numbres.:D

mathers_wales_uk 15th Mar 2007 01:27

What about Eastern Airways adding more routes from Cardiff or add frequency on the CWL - NCL. When Eastern Airways started operating at CWL it mentioned Aberdeen why havent they ever operated the service?

:ok:

red17 15th Mar 2007 09:28

Perhaps Eastern and any of the former BACON routes out of BRS now that FlyMayBe have done a runner. sounds like some of those routes were profitable

NickBarnes 15th Mar 2007 17:15

Norwich - Brussels would be good, especially as flybe don't seem to want to add many more routes from NWI

T3 have been pretty quiet on the expansion front of late.

Wonder if they have crewing issues, with people leaving and not enough newbies coming in.

Could be one theory.

skiddyiom 16th Mar 2007 08:31

Eastern are watching and waiting for the right time to expand. Once the BACON/Flybe debacle is settled then they'll probably move in and clean up! :}

Eastern

Sounds rite to me. :ok: There might even be some fall out in IOM for Eastern if FlyMayBe kills off them Red Tails over there.:E

airhumberside 17th Mar 2007 12:05

I dont see T3 lasting much longer on SOU-IOM with BE starting it soon

mathers_wales_uk 18th Mar 2007 15:06

when did you hear of them possibly coming back to CWL info desk? All they need to do is operate a viable route from CWL rather than the BRU that failed so miserably.

treaclecat 18th Mar 2007 18:20

SOU-IOM

Lets stay positive one door closes and another one opens who knows what might be in store for T3 from the IOM
