One of the 763's should be operating MAN-Bodrum tomorrow. They operate TCX2984/5 (MAN-DLM) before operating MAN-BJV.

SSH cancelled ex LGW

Hi TCX69.

We were going to book a holiday to SSH and it looks like the flights now look like they are cancelled. Pity as it was planned to be a B753!! I don't suppose you can find out a few things for me? First, are they def cancelled or is it a glitch and if they are, where is the B753 going on Thursday's in November instead?

Many thanks!

Who organises Thomas Cook meals?

Surely James Martin must be ashamed at putting his name to Thomas Cook food. Travelled recently Manchester to Fuerteventura return and the food was diabolical. I am a diabetic and ordered diabetic meals which I received. On the return flight the diabetic meal was 75% white rice which is 'no-no' for diabetics - wholegrain rice is OK in small quantities but white rice raises the blood sugar levels significantly. There was also a stale bread bun and an apple. However, the ordinary meal was no better quality wise, but was much better for a diabetic!!! Interesting that this happened a few years ago on Thomas Cook to Las Vegas from Manchester.

Haven't travelled with Thomas Cook for a few years because of the shambles that is the airline and tour company and they seem to have got no better in that time.

I have to disagree. Travelled from Cardiff to Enfidha in June and thought the meal was great.

I also have to disagree, the one I had on NCL - LPA was the best I'd ever had on a plane. Even better when it's free too

Have to disagree too! I have eaten dozens of TCX Mr Martins meals and compared to the meals served on MON TOM VS and BA in steerage class, they are really good. The mains are tasty and the little box of goodies, particularly the Banana Muffin in the Breakfast is great. Even the veg is usually reasonable. The veggie options, Cheese Omelette and Gnocchi were the last ones I had, are pretty good too. The only complaint I have is the tea, which is diabolical!
If the Diabetic option was not up to scratch, I hope you filled in the comments card so they can do something about it.

Diabetic meal

Yes I filled in the comment card and have spoken to Thomas Cook who didn't really seem to understand what I was talking about - but then it was a customer services assistant who could not expected to know about the intricacies of diabetic diets. However, those who design the menus should know.

The 753 will still be operating SSH on Thursdays. It does, however appear not to be bookable on flythomascook.com

The 753 schedule for the winter is:

On the subject of TCX food have just done round trip LGW/BJV the meals are very good for the class of travel. Nice curry outbound with very nice little dessert pot. Rib of beef with a Chinese type sauce on the way back.

The delivery by one crew member left a lot to be desired though. My name shouted out and the little box thrust at me. The hot entree delivered in a similar fashion with a sharp intake of breath when I asked her to repeat options!

This aside I find Thomas Cook pretty good all round an most cabin crew friendly.

I am due to go to Sharm in December with Monarch's new service from Luton and waiting to see what happens with this...

Anyway, due to my trip I have been looking on Trip Advisor a fair but, and it seems on there people have been discussing the cutbacks of flights to Sharm and how people have been affected.

Some people from Manchester flying witth Thomas Cook have been saying their flight times have changed and the flight is now operating via Gatwick to pick up further passengers. It seems there is low demand to Egypt at the moment and I think the airline is operating flights depending on demand and merging where they can.

NCL

Will NCL stay as a 2 x 752 and 1 x a320? Or will a couple of A321's be relocated here for S14? I heard rumors that a couple of A321's will be replacing the 752's that currently operate out of NCL. Just wondering as we normally fly by TCX if we go away in the summer.

Thanks

Ahhh I am pleased that we are getting to hold onto a couple of 757s for at least another year and will the A320 be leased from Smart Lynx again do you know?

TCX69/LiamNCL

No they won't, as others have said they're getting 321s in NCL in time for next summer.

I assume the confusion is that the seat maps on flythomascook.com still indicate 2 757 and 1 A320 for S14.

As far as I'm aware, the 2 757's will change to A321's for S14 where the website just hasn't been updated yet.

I must say, i'm hoping to high heaven TCX keep the 752s at NCL as long as possible, the A321s in my opinion are no match to the 752 and i really don't want to see them go as it would mean only 2 LS 752s at NCL unless they base the 3rd which has been mooted.

I understand that the A321 is far superior to the B752 in terms of operational economics.

Not knocking the B752 though as it has been a magnificent aircraft in its day and probably my favourite aircraft.
