I guess both LPL and STN would have their pros and cons, I'm not suggesting they WILL put these routes on, all I said(as per my previous post, if certain people read it correctly)was they may look at the viability of such routes, I dont think they would put these as base launch routes, still it seems to of finally sparked a bit of much needed debate on the thread.
Judgeing by check-in the other day, the FR GRO seems popular, and DUB and SNN always seem to do ok so i guess FR would do well in BRS, in theory i suppose they could just slot in to the ex BA check-in area.

BRS Flyer - Yes, G4S arent the most popular of companies! Would much rather go back to Mitie. Yes, many of our most experience members of staff have unfortunately crossed over to an employer that treats them better and pays them fairly for the shift times worked! I dont feel that need at the moment...

I'm surprised security are as thorough as they are considering G4S have never really had a good reputation. I mean remember the prisoner transfer/escape fiascos of the early 90's, they seemed to let quite a bit slip through in those days. Present company excepted ATCO, natch!

previous Air France operation
Whatabench,
not being picky but, initially AF began with ATR 42 of Brit air, then as route picked up this was replaced by TAT using Fokker F28/F70 well over eighteen months or more, as you may now recall after your post. sorry, just setting record straight.

CJ do you mean the last time AF were at BRS? I too am sure they used the ERJ at some stage, until the last time they stopped the service some 3/4 years ago? If you do a search for AF Bristol on google there is the press release for the 2002 launch, saying Regional would operate the route using ERJ145's....
Hope you don't think I am being picky, but it was something I thought too!

WHATABENCH,
Re Air France :- may have got to bottom of the F28-Emb 145 mystery !, you were right about them using Emb,s last time they were here, i was thinking about THE PREVIOUS OPERATION, as they operated here before, well no thats not right either, they in fact were once before that in the late sixties the using Breguet Du Ponts doing split loads of pax and freight ( Concord , parts for Filton )Bloody hell im getting old, anyway back to it, the second time they were here late ninties/early 2000,s they started with ATR,s then upgraded to F28,s ( dug out photos ) So this time they operate it will be they,re fourth time operating at Bristol.
So nothing from Ryanair, even engineers telling us about it, also rumours about BMI Regional doing ex BA Connect routes, heard that one ?

I might be guilty of starting the BD rumour, having suggested it might be a darn good idea several posts back in this thread.
I still think it's a darn good idea, and I might drop BD a line to suggest the same. (I nearly got stranded in London last night after a delayed LX flight to LCY meant I nearly missed the 23:30 train back home).
If, however, it's come independently of my suggestion, then I'm all ears.

If Ryanair at Bristol does go ahead, I'd love to see more routes to Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. Great for the airport, but the question I ask myself, is would I ever fly with Ryanair?
Stockholm (If SAS is proving well, would be nice to see a daily flight)
Riga
Oslo
Malmo (for Copenhagen)
Bratislava (for Vienna and Bratislava - very cool city)
Budapest (as I gather easyJet has dropped this route?)
Due to the massive Polish population in Bristol , I wouldn't be surprised to see routes to those places in Poland you cant even pronounce, let alone know where they are.
Would still like to see Lufthansa, Swiss and BMI too

B.T. if it was you, shame on you !, fancy spreading rumours like that. No heard this from several sources,in regard to BMI code share with Lufthansa on the german routes, could be some truth in it as L/H have been previously reported as looking at expansion from regional airports, would be nice to get the german destinations back as with Paris and AF.

Customer surveys
Got to my desk today to find a survey from Flybe to all former Bacon passengers. I usually delete these things and get on with my work, but this was a good opportunity to complain about the loss of BRS, even though I am sure my comments will just be binned.
They immediately dug themselves in deeper with the question "which Ba Connect route did you use?" and then completely omitting BRS from the drop-down selection list! It seems that the route never existed (like one of those spy films where they say "I'm sorry, sir, there has never been anyone here of that name, this has always been a dental surgery").
There was also a comparison list with Bacon: are we better or worse than Bacon at this, that and the other. What do you think of our destinations, flight times, prices, etc.? My survey said: X. Made me feel better, at least.
****
Talking of surveys, I did one for BRS airport specifically on the German routes a few months ago. Anyone know if they are using that, or was it inconclusive? Anyone send it to LH?
****
Next week I am flying FRA-SOU with Flybe. Lo-cost it is not, but what can you do? LHR was also pricey, it being a bank holiday weekend. Then a 3-4 hour drive westwards in the dark on A-roads. Can't wait.
Me and my complaining. Maybe I should move to Malaga: I could fly to work in FRA every day and to EXE every weekend for about €2.50.
