Ooops!
Remember all those engineers EA laid off about 3 months ago......looks like they`re trying to get them back, the EasternAirways.com "careers" page has been very busy this week....after all, as the advertisements for these jobs states, "Due to continued airline growth, vacancies have arisen".........perhaps that should read "Due to a monumental cock up, we are desperate for engineers".

When it does go bang, I just hope the industry recognises that the crew are brilliant and hire them. And that the industry realises the management are horrifically incompetent and tar and feather them. Figuratively speaking of course.

Cronies
Unfortunately there is a culture of "cronyism" at EA,as well as Humberside airport in general. The incompetents will always remain as they know the right people. The good apples,ie aircrew, engineers, ground staff suffer.I just wonder if Mr Bristow knows the full story as he has a big interest in HUY and EA.

The whole HUY/EA situation is very sad really, HUY has great potential, but abysmal management, extortionate landing fees and poor marketing have ruined it. EA need to look further than the oil industry and the odd football charter to make any progress.

Great news for T3 indeed, a healthy cash boost. Guessing a J41 will be based at CWL. I'm assuming an additional flight or two may be launched too, can't imagine the aircraft sitting there all day.

From what I recall, it is the Welsh Government state and control the pricing on the CWL-VLY flights where "X" amount have to be offered at a very competitive price.
When Highland Airways, Manx 2 & Citywing fares started at £19.99 oneway and I expect they will be controlling the fares as part of the £1.2 million they are giving the airline.

The plan.
At some point at HUY. Someone will realise that they have a critical shortage of crews with more leaving. HR will say 'do we really need pilots as RL lake says that all aircraft will be remote control soon'.
Then say 'lets make engineers redundant as planes work by magic, so all we need is a wizard'. Lots of back patting and loud yoop's as they think this is ultra forward, corporate blue sky thinking.
The commercial department will say 'look I've sold a long term charter in wales for £500 per day, that's £2000 per week!!!!. There's no outlay or loss as planes fly in air and air is free'. That's actually closer to the truth than people would realise.
Someone with no idea on reality outside the portacabins will bound into ops and crewing. Probably dressed as Julius Caesar with a copy of Mein Kampf in their hands. Demanding why crews cannot do six sectors days for seven days. And shouting 'who is this EASA who say we can't do it. Is he she a new FO, sounds dutch'.
In the meantime, a J41 is being towed up the motorway to Anglesey with 29 pax by a tug because there is no one to replace a prop and no crew to fly it.

I worked for one outfit where, regarding a crew member, the MD questioned of us "Why does he need a day off this week when he had a day off last week?"
Been there, done that, got the tee shirt
