God, can't we do anything right? Guys this is a major step forward for TOM we've been asking for it for years! And now it has finally been announced that we'll be taking seats out of our longhaul aircraft this still isn't good enough! These cabins (TOM Plus / Premium) will be some of the best in the charter market. As for copying FCA, no guys, don't think so, we'll actually make money from our longhaul!

As for 767-300s on shorthaul, we only have a handful of premium configured longhaul aircraft the non premium will do the bulk of the shorthaul. Should a premium aircraft be needed to do a shorthaul flight then it will not be reconfigured pretty much the same as now.

You can take as many seats out of the Thomsonfly B767 as you wish but whilst those remaining stay in a 2-4-2 configuration, it will still be an extremely uncomfortable aircraft.

I feel Thomsonfly are simply reacting (very reluctantly) to the positive reponse of FCA passengers in the most economical way possible. I do not believe for one minute that prices will not increase, that's just not Thomsons way of conducting business.

Just as a matter of interest, which ones are premium configured and which are a one class fit?

At the moment do any of the non premium configured 76's do longhaul? If so, when you have the new cabins for the Premium ones doesnt this create a huge gap in the standards offered between two aircraft which operate similar routes, probably sold at very similar prices?

I believe 5 of the 8 TFly 763's are having the new cabins. Of those 5, 4 will have a premium cabin and the other will be all economy, as some of our longhaul does not offer premium. This could change though. I suppose it will depend on bookings in the next few months. Its already been mentioned that the premium cabin could double in size to take up the whole front cabin.
The remaining 3 will be left for shorthaul use, but have already had a bit of a smarten up recently and had leather seat covers installed.

I always wondered why TOM based either G-OBYE, G-OBYI and G-OBYJ at BHX, you hardly ever see the other TOM B767-300's at BHX, now I know why. Lol!! Cheers.

And also it's nice to know that TOM are increasing their leg room, I knew sometime ago anyway, cos I wrote to Thomsonfly regarding their seating and they replied and said they were going to refit their cabins to allow more spacious loeg room. There words not mine. But at least they are.

Still reckon they are trying to copy the FCA model!! Lol
They would never be able to compete with regards to their long haul services.
Give me First Choice Airways any day.....

Cheers.

Im not entirely sure what NCL has from TOM at the moment but next summer has high frequency flights to ALC/AGP/PMI/IBZ plus usual once weekly flights to other destinations. If you go on the Thomson website and request an e-brochure the flight details will be in that

For summer 2007 TOM will alledgedly base the usual 2 757 and 1 737-300 a/c at NCL. The 737 will fly the high frequency loco services to AGP, ALC, PMI and IBZ aswell as the odd charter to SZG, VRN and VAR. New destinations being offered are Luxor and Thessaloniki.

For the coming winter the majority of flights will be operated by 737-300, with some of the Canary flights being payload restricted, I presume as NCL-LPA/TFS etc is a stretch for a fully loaded 733. 757 will operate some flights, SSH being one!

Wish TOM would return with their long haul at NCL instead of chartering it out. Years ago they used to operate POP and numerous SFB rotations using 767 a/c. Maybe they could introduce Cancun, Cuba etc!

Does anyone have any insider clues as to the performance of BOH and the plans for future operations? I want to know if a 3rd aircraft will ever be based at BOH? Cheers

TOM

I dont think the 3rd aircraft will come any time soon at bournmouth because although loads are good theyre not excellent from what ive heard off a few pilots. Also on the e brochure 90% of cardiff anything in between and The beggining of birmingham are missing on my e brochure any reason why?

Regarding the new TFly Plus and Premium

Its all well and good copying which is what has occured, but copying and then making it a bit worse again is no good,
2 - 4 - 2
touch screen tv - problems from day 1 , broken within weeks
No 777 interior, still dark, hard to install mood lighting
small amount of long haul routes and aircraft
and beneath it all theres a low cost model, what more can i say.

Don't know if this has been mentioned elsewhere but a part news item taken from the company's website.....

Five new aircraft for Thomsonfly

14.08.2006 The UK's third largest airline Thomsonfly has today announced the planned purchase of five new Boeing aircraft over as part of a series of investments and initiatives to increase the efficiency of its airline operation.

Two Boeing 737-300s will be new to the Thomsonfly fleet and the airline will also take delivery of three brand new Boeing 737-800 aircraft direct from the airline manufacturer in the first quarter of next year.

Silverjet, the all business class airline which plans to commence operations from Luton in December, has today announced that it entered into a letter of intent to secure two of Thomsonfly's Boeing 767-200 aircraft no later than March and October 2007. Thomsonfly has confirmed that in addition to the two 767 aircraft leaving the fleet to join Silverjet, two 737-500 aircraft will also leave the fleet in Spring 2007.

Where do you think that the 3 new 738 and 2nd hand 737 will be based and what new routes will TOM operate or will they just increase frequincies on the routes.

The 2 733's are almost definitely going to go to Coventry to replace the 2 735's that are leaving

The 3 738's, well obviously you're going to have to take 2 752's from somewhere and replace them with 738's, therefore using the 2 752's to replace the 762's. That leaves you with one spare 738, which will be used to open new routes at an existing base (I'm presuming)

What about the TOM expansion in CWL in 07. Will one of the 738 go there and what routes will it operate.
