Hatton resigns from Britannia/Thomsonfly
 

Have heard that Kevin Hatton has today resigned from Britannia/Thomsonfly. Can anyone confirm or post the press release. If true also was he pushed or did he jump?
He had come out of retirement having previously been with B.A
His place has reportedly been taken by Maurice Boyle-Operations director.
What changes if any might this mean for the company now?

I work for BY and can find nothing on this on our internal website or on the TUI site.

Announcement was made by Peter Rothwell today in a memo to staff. Maurice Boyle appointed as Airline director on the TUI board and also as MD of Thomsonfly and chairman of TUIfly Nordic.
Chris Turner to succeed Maurice on an interim basis as Operations director responsible for all pilots/cabin crew/Operations and training.

It says "Maurice has worked in the commercial aviation industry for more than 25 years and has held senior roles at Canadian Airlines,Servisair and Dan Air
He has been at the forefront of developing our partnership working arrangements with both pilots and cabin crew"

Kevin Hatton will relinquish his role as MD from 12th August.

It all sounds rather sudden to me anyway (ie notice out today/leave tomorrow!)

No big surprise this he was expected to resume his retirement late last year.I think he rather enjoyed having such a big trainset and stayed on a bit longer.Britannia were lucky to get a guy of this calibre and background. Certainly is a much more dynamic and thrusting airline since he took control.Lets hope his spirit continues or can we hear the distant sound of panzer tank tracks??then we best worry!!.:ok:

Come on Stampe you and your CC mates should ‘wake up and smell the coffee’, Hatton either rapidly resigned or was fired!

The 737 operation is a complete debacle (and the 737 lifestyle will be coming to a fleet near you soon!), the mighty Britannia is a shadow of its forma self… Our company is now run by/driven by outsiders…. Who quite frankly are fcuk ing it up!

Ps You can’t have a pay rise this year… We spent it all on Titan Airways sub charters!

It is quite fun, if you have time, to translate a section of text from E to D and back again a couple of times. Something quite Stanley Unwin like comes back at you.

Have to say that us CC think it's all very convenient (read suspect) that old Kevin and Jenny suddenly announce their departures! SOmewhat inappropriate that they both leave while we're in the middle of major balloting for CC ts and cs.

Can't say I'll miss Kevin, but the prospect of Maurice Boyle heading us up terrifies me!

Whether Kevin was sacked or simply got out before things hit the fan who knows - but the 737 fleet is a total debacle and we CC are the first to pay the price for it!

Ah yes the beancounters from the bunker in HAJ they control the show these days.

Titan should repaint at least one of its fleet in Britannia, oops that was politically incorrect, I mean Thomson Fly colours as the aircraft sees a lot of Coventry apron already.

But the current management fad is for out-sourcing to India. So why are we subing from Titan? Surely there are cost and operational benefits!! from getting aircraft from Sahara (S2) or Indian Airlines (IC)....ho ho.

So next time one of the fleet is lame at Coventry or Bournemouth or wherever lets think India, an 11 hour + positioning sector to get the a/c here should do wonders for customer satisfaction though the beancounters will tell us its profitable of course!!

When the summer comes around will Thomson be basing 737's for their new low cost services to AGP,ALC and PMI or will the flights be operated by the already based 757's and 767's

I believe they'll be back to normal with B757's and B767's, as the B737's are only standing in for the odd one or two B767's which are still on lease to Garuda Indonesia for the winter.

The TUI cargo web site ( which states only provisional ) shows a based 733 at Manchester all summer.

Thanks for the help guys.Will a 737 operate the Friday morning Malaga flight in the summer because its in the thomson brochure coded as BY but our booking confirmation says its a TOM flight?

Thomsonfly will be basing a mix of 757's, 767-300's, a 767-200 and some 737-300's for summer. The 733's will be used on scheduled and some charter routes. The provisional summer timetable is just that, provisional, and already some flights have had a change of a/c type. (The TUI cargo website has not been updated to reflect this yet).

All flights will have TOM flight no's as of 1 May. It's the final nail in the coffin of Britannia as the ATC callsign changes as well. Think they they're just a little slow in the brochure department!

What a shame ..... end of a great brand. RIP Brit!!

Is Britannia Nordic still that or have they changed to the tour operator as well?

And the most served destination for Thomsonfly this year is Palma with exactly 100 flights a week"
