flyBE LHR?
See on the their thread some talk of flyBE launching ABZ & EDI services to LHR?
Is this likely to come to pass? Slated for March 2017 start apparently.
I'm guessing an E-jet of some flavour, but suppose DH8D not out of the question.

Financially I have no idea how it would succeed. However they would have more chance of filling aircraft due to the sheer number of codeshare agreements they have over all alliances.

Capt D:
Would be interesting to see how Flybe can succeed when Virgin failed.
Wonder what this would mean for the LCY service? Would they run both?
Give it to Loganair!

I see the dread Bypass is moving to the right
Opening of Balmedie to Tipperty stretch of A90 to be delayed - BBC News
.....................
The opening of a section of the Aberdeen city bypass has been delayed.
The Balmedie to Tipperty section of Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route was due to be completed by Spring 2017, but this has now been put back until the end of that year.
The AWPR project as a whole is due to be finished in Spring 2018.
Economy Secretary Keith Brown said the government had pursued the project "with vigour", with "significant progress" made to date. However, opposition parties said the management of the project "must be called into question", accusing the government of "ridiculous incompetence".
Main project contractor Aberdeen Road Limited began work on the ground in February 2015, and set a target of completing work on the Balmedie to Tipperty road to the north of the city by Spring 2017. This section, which will see the existing A90 road upgraded to a dual carriageway, will be linked to the northern leg of the AWPR at Blackdog.
Mr Brown said this proposal "was considered challenging but achievable and would obviously have been welcome if realised". However, in November contractors formally advised Transport Scotland that this target could not be achieved. The said work on key earthworks, which cannot be undertaken during the winter months due to "certain environmental risks", was not completed in time, which had a knock-on effect on the timetable.

Vagar Aberdeen Flights
This article from The Vagar airport website seems to indicate that the flights will route through Sumburgh first. And doesn't mention the Log/BEE divorce.
Loganair announces that they will start a summerroute between Aberdeen and the Faroe Islands -
Loganair announces that they will start a summerroute between Aberdeen and the Faroe Islands
Loganair, Scotland’s Airline is a Flybe franchise partner predominately operating flights within Scotland as well as cross border services inside the UK.
Today, Loganair announced that they will start an air service from Aberdeen to Vágar in Summer 2017. The flights will operate on a 50 seat SAAB 2000 aircraft at the following times from Friday 26th May to Sunday 3rd September 2017:
Fridays: Aberdeen - Vágar at 09.55 and Vagar – Aberdeen at 12.20
Sundays: Aberdeen – Vagar at 12.20 and Vagar Aberdeen at 15.40
The new service has been timed to meet connecting Flybe flights at Aberdeen, opening connections to more UK destinations including Birmingham, Manchester Kirkwall (Orkney Isles) and Sumburgh (Shetland Isles).
The flights will be through flight numbered from/to Shetland for ease of connectivity. Loganair also has an interline agreement with British Airways therefore this new service opens a gateway from London Heathrow to Vágar.

I noticed there is a message that it is 'subject to government approval'. Any ideas?

What was the TOM freq to Palma this season Capt D? Is 4w for S17 comparable or different to S16? Presume that was the ASL B737 that was semi-based here over the summer.
Meanwhile, I see concern re Menzies takeover (I think it was) of ASIG. Not overly-familiar these days with who does what on the ground at ABZ. Are they the dominant ground handlers?
Thanks.

Frequency is unchanged for S17 with TOM. 3x weekly start May- End Oct with an extra night rotation leaving ABZ at 2330 Saturday night and returning 0630 Sunday morning. This operated/s from June to September.
There was also Barrhead 1x weekly End May-End Oct with BA Cityflyer which of course has since been dropped.

Swissport
Thanks both.
Meanwhile, looks like ABZ will see some travel disruption in the run up to Christmas, with Swissport baggage handlers coming out on strike.
Seems to be a winter of discontent in the UK with various strikes ongoing or in the planning!

flyBE LHR
Here is what Flightrider has said over on the EDI thread, with many thanks:
Remedy slots
In response to earlier postings, the situation with the remedy slots is that a carrier would be required to fly the slots specifically set aside for the Aberdeen and Edinburgh routes, before then being able to use them on other short-haul routes after three years. In this particular case, unlike some slots offered under other competition remedies such as Philadelphia, the title to the slots never passes to the new operator. It's very much like a leasehold versus a freehold in property terms - these are strictly leasehold.
Announcement imminent, I hear. 4 on EDI, 3 on ABZ, all Q400.
Would flyBE really operate LHR AND LCY?

Will be a shame if they ditch LCY as I just can't see how LHR could possibly work.
They might be targeting slightly different markets though. If it does go ahead, it will have a gazillion codeshares I'm sure.

flyBE LHR announced
Flybe starts new Scottish flights to Heathrow - BBC News
Well, they've only gone & done it. Three weekday flights, one Sat, two Sun (from flyBE thread).
Good luck to them when it starts.

Good to see it confirmed despite my skepticism.
Should we be expecting the downward trend to be reversed next year?
The way the economy is, the addition of AGP, ALC, FAE, FAO, LHR & RIX and no route losses isn't too shabby.
