Can’t believe Emirates had the audacity to send not one but two aircraft to Prestwick when a perfectly viable alternative was available in Manchester,Birmingham..dare I say it Newcastle.
Come on guys..let sleeping diversions rest and move on?

From a passengers point of view I'm sure many a groan went up when the pax on the 1st flight were Informed they were going to NCL with quite possibly a medium to large cheer when the pax on the 2nd and 3rd ones were Informed they were diverting to PIK.
At the end of the day after a long long haul flight you just want home or to the hotel as quickly as possible, and for most of the pax they were probably delighted with the prospect of 35 minutes up the road to Glasgow rather than a 2 1/2 to 3 hour journey from NCL. Maybe now Emirates will use PIK again on the very rare occasions they have to divert from GLA and have a plan in place with the handling agents and fuellers etc, it surely makes sense from a passengers (the ones who pay the salaries) point of view.

Except it really wasn't that straightforward the first time round.

Since there was a red weather warning at the time, I sincerely hope that all PAX were offered local hotel accommodation. It would have been irresponsible to encourage any of them to attempt to travel onwards, or for the outgoing PAX to try to reach PIK. Hence the plane returned empty to DXB.

Yes all offered hotel accommodation. Yes there are plenty of top hotels around PIK. And for good measure arrangements were being put in place last night, at short notice, to accommodate EK37 the A380, had it failed to land at MAN.

Sorry if a dumb question but why can I book an Emirates flight on April 20th 2019 via a booking engine but Emirates website only allows bookings on and before April 9th? Trying to plan an holiday for next year

Some booking agents & travel shops will allow you to book before an airline releases seats. They just make a gamble that the flight goes ahead as previous years. They’ll have historical data on how much that ticket is likely to cost them. It’s not much of a gamble as they have your money and if the seats/route doesn’t happen they’ll refund you.

Dubai Runway Closure 2019
Any idea when Emirates would start to inform customers of schedule changes due to the runway closure in 2019? Our flights in April have disappeared and all Emirates will say is that the flight is still confirmed (even though no longer bookable on their website). It would be nice to know so we can rearrange accommodation

I read elsewhere that EY are allowing pilots secondments to EK!
Closer unity or just sensible offloading of excess staff?
EY really are the ugly duckling of the ME3
Have been surprised they couldnt make the 'license to print money' routes we're often told of to work though.
Interesting the have expanded and launched new routes despite axing some failing presumably least profitable routes.

If they are agreed nationally, then one of more dire warning about a no deal Brexit may be overblown.

My understanding is that the rights Emirates got was some rights that was previously given to another UAE operator that cannot be named and thus is not an expansion for UAE as such.
