So to illustrate PIK is firmly in business, today 2 USAF, 2 US Navy, RAF 2 C130, 2 A400m, 3 A330, First Air RJ85, R Moroccan AF RJ100, bunch of Biz Jets, and the norm Ryanair, Air France, Rescue helicopters, crew training and light stuff. And plenty more for each day this week.
Not to mention the smaller traffic (Cheyenne, C404, SR22) which was in and out throughout the day, or the USMC UC12 which arrived late on. KC10 was also due but over flew. I would like to see a comparison between Prestwick, Belfast and Glasgow at the end of the week, will shut a few people up.

GLA 8,714,307 passengers
BFS 5,147,546 passengers
PIK 673,232 passengers
So PIK at 13.1% of BFS....7.7% of GLA.

As an avid supporter and former employee of Prestwick Airport(not Greer or Landmark I may add) it breaks my heart to see the state the airport finds itself in.
Forgetting the passenger side of things, Prestwick Handling was meant to be the saviour of the airport.
Unfortunately Belfast, Glasgow and Edinburgh are all having other ideas. I cannot remember Glasgow or Edinburgh having so much military traffic as they do now. Traffic that once upon a time was Prestwick regulars.
Belfast (Global Trek) are on a whole new level however. In the last 2 months they have scored upwards of 50 USAF C-130`s. This is not to mention US Navy C40`s and USAF C-40`s regularly going through the Irish airport. The majority of this traffic previously used Prestwick.
Incredibly Prestwick have an exclusive military fuel contract that should have the US military flocking to the airport in there droves. However quite the opposite is happening.
Cargo is also down and indeed the W/B CLX772 has been lost on the Monday night. There also seems to be no urgency to chase other types of traffic - ferry flights etc.
Now spotters on here will try and say how busy the place is with C-17`s etc, but these are few and far between. The majority of days the ramps are empty.
Handling are very poor and I've no doubt this is why a lot of traffic is leaving for other airports.
Something is seriously wrong, new management seem to be worse than the last Infratil team, with the main gripe being that the current management are surrounding themselves with people who are ex-colleagues, and have very little knowledge of how things work.
I`m sorry, but the airport I have supported and loved all my life is on it`s knees, and barring a miracle is finished.

Couldn't agree more to this statement unfortunately. They are still some lower level managers that managed to create new positions for themselves and their loyal minnions. Making them the new executies of the company and the new people with experience in business development lap up every word they say. The workers at prestwick are great. Its just unfortunate that some of the unintelligent managers remain. The airport will just keep losing traffic. Till they remove these parasites. Even then it may be to late.

When are the management going to held to account?
Example 1 - They brought in a Cargo manager around October 2015. Since then he has attracted ZERO new carriers, indeed freight has fallen. Obviously to difficult, earlier this year he slipped sideways into a Spaceport role. Shocking.
Example 2 - Umpteen annual trips around the world by the person in charge of getting military business. A total waste of money, for all that he is attracting.
What happens in the morning management meetings when they discuss the poor number of daily movements? If it was me, I`d be saying, get your finger out, or you`ll be out the door!!
This needs addressed, management taking big wages, and delivering nothing!

In one sense it's tragic, but in another sense it's hard to blame them as running an airport that serves little purpose must be difficult. It's a miracle it still has the traffic it does have; the population for which it's a more convenient airport than Glasgow is tiny and there's not industry left in the area.

'Not industry left in the area' What ? No UTC, no GE, no Spirit, no BAE Systems, no PAM, no Chevron, no ATC centre and nothing else ? When did they turn the lights out in the building I work in ?
Gents if you're going to troll then please get some facts and correct basic mistakes. Oh and BTW, PAS are doing very well with the transient and TDY handling, contrary to rubbish read on here and the border line or not so border line slander of individuals.

BTB, if you are an ex-employee as you claim you should be ashamed of this comment.

And to put the record straight on the handling, my company had a Customer aircraft overnight last night. The co-operation of management and Prestwick Aviation Services staff was excellent. Fully co-operative, professional and friendly. The Customer remarked on the ease of use of the PAS facility and they will be back. Thank-you PAS for the service.

So supportive of his/her local airport that they jumped ship. That's if they did indeed work for PIK.
Cargo, where is all of this cargo coming from? Thin air? A cargo airline needs CARGO. That is not the fault of PIK. There are also now more belly hold options in Scotland with 2 daily Emirates, not to mention QA and ETD from EDI.
Military - PIK still gets it's fair share of the market. Easy enough to compare against 5-10 years ago when the traffic came to PIK by default. What competition did PIK have then, only Shannon? The only business development was Greer and ocean sky trying to steal each other's business! Global trek obviously have a good product and the units are entitled to try somewhere else for a night out! It is not necessarily the airports fault!
