You take notice of someone talking about East Yorkshire when they work for Hull council?? You realy havent got a clue then.

To be honest, there is no point in carrying this on, its probably fairly boring to most people and we are not going to agree...

Im sure your 'mate' alan (partridge? theyre all the same at beeb) knows exactly what hes talking about. This is one thing i realy do know about thank you very much, if you believe me or not is another matter, not that i realy care.

As it happens MAG looked at Finningley before buying HUY and decided it was 'not viable'.
So MAG decided that Doncaster was 'not viable' on one hand and that Humberside wasn't worth investing in. Looks like at least one of those decisions was wrong.
A google search will provide you with the proof

To be honest most of what you say is pretty boring and could not come much better with a plate of Peel and chips.... Were never going to agree so its best we sit back and see what happens.

The FACT that you have taken dislike, ney discust, at what i say only makes your arguments weak. They make you look like another one of those 'fans', who believe that long-haul sscheduled flights will be on offer from DSA. Good luck to DSA and all its staff, please dont get me wrong, any job is good in these cobditions, just stop trying to post what you believe is fact when not reporting the WHOLE truth.

One word i will leave you with is 'insolvency', being the know it all that you WANT to be, you should know exactly what i mean.... Wont last long once Peel get rid (AND THEY WILL BY THE WAY)

In the mean time, good luck

Teleman sums it up perfectly -

Please stick to interesting stuff about the airport chaps. Pug - good on you for realising that you're never going to agree, but perhaps you should have realised this a little earlier and not wasted so much of your time. Personally I've got to the stage where if I visit this topic and see posts from either pug or jumpseater I just move on.

Snoop

Rafat,
Please stick to interesting stuff about the airport chaps.

Perhaps this'll bring a smile then

Doncaster Council’s Planning Committee today approved variations to planning conditions submitted by Doncaster Sheffield Airport that have previously restricted certain categories of aircraft from operating from the Airport at night.

Aircraft can be categorised in terms of noise by a ‘Quota Count’ system and the original planning consent for the Airport when it opened almost 5 years ago, set a limit, or noise quota, for the amount of night time noise permitted in a year. Within this limit, slightly noisier Quota Count 4 (QC4) aircraft and above, were not permitted to operate during the night between 23:00 and 07:00. Until now, these restrictions have meant that the Airport has been unable to attract key cargo operators who need the flexibility to operate occasional flights with QC4 aircraft from the Airport at night.

In addition to approving the Airport’s proposal to lift the current QC4 aircraft restriction, the Council also approved proposals put forward by the Airport to reduce the overall annual quota count limit by 26% and to restrict numbers of QC4 aircraft movements at night to a maximum of 100 per year. The Airport also proposed a complete ban on all much noisier QC8 and QC16 aircraft – bringing tighter controls on the noisiest aircraft, which were also approved today.

Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield sees this decision as vital if it is to capitalise on the opportunities to grow its air freight business, with the potential to create up to 440 jobs and bring a further welcome boost to the local economy.

Mike Morton, Airport Director commented, “This news is another important step in making this Airport even more attractive to prospective operators and to realise the potential it has in the air freight industry with the associated economic benefits this will bring for the region.

Throughout the consultation that took place ahead of today’s Council decision, we have stressed that this is not about creating increased noise, but about giving operators the flexibility to use a mix of aircraft that they need from time to time, but within an even tighter level of overall night time noise limits and ensuring that we maintain and enhance our commitment to minimise the Airport’s impact on local communities.”

And, as if by magic, a DC8 appears

Perhaps a certain global express parcel company i used to work for might reconsider their options now then....

Though when i worked there they had taken over ANC and decided to stick with MAN due to the hub being in Stoke...

You never know though.

canadian connection

In what way? Is 'selling part of its airport business' newspaper speak for 'offering a 49% stake in its airport division? Anyway a possible Canadian connection was spotted around these parts a while ago ... funny how quite a few things seem to have taken a bit of an upward turn since then ....

Unusual cargo

Just watched 'Look North' and it reported that 13 lions arrived today from a Romanian zoo for the Yorkshire Wildlife Park just down the road. Equipment was a Jet2 passenger plane with the seats taken out. It was G-CELY 733 from Budapest (they were taken by road there).

The air traffic controller said he arranged a long slow descent from over Holland so the lions' ears didn't hurt.

Anyone know the load factor. For comparison, MME-DUB was 13 pax in/16 pax outbound so approx 20%. Not great but early days.

So who decided on closing the runway at DSA today? Now shouldn’t DSA schedule runway repair closures for over night work instead of Saturday afternoon’s.

While the runway was closed this afternoon a Wizz Air, Airbus 320 inbound from Warsaw had to divert to Leeds/Bradford. I bet the passengers won’t have been to happy with this and at a guess Easyjet wont stand for anything like this when they arrive in a couple of weeks time.

The wizz was due in at 6:30 in the morning but was delayed nearly 10 hours and the work had been scheduled to take place for the afternoon and through tonight. I admit not ideal but the work needed to be done before the summer schedule and easyjet started.

In other words LBIA, the work HAD been scheduled for when there would be NO interference with flights. The fact that this Wizz had to divert was solely down to its extremely late departure.
