There's some very short memories on this thread, I seem to recall 2 fence breaches at CVT within the first 12 months of pax flights being announced - both by journalists who took their time and a load of photos, IIRC.

Airport to offer free ground handling during July as an introductory offer to its new jet aviation centre. Stand by to receive postings from the bhx centric talking of desperation as they spot another non existent plot.

Ha! Ha! No swipes from here....Makes sense if it works and gains them extra buisness. More likely some will use it while it's free then abandon it....Depends on the charges long term. If they get that right they may win some decent contracts...

I've been putting the finishing touches to Chav Airlines, which will be flying from Coventry - one way - to Siberia. Planes are decked out with burberry and the wheels have some nice blue neon on them. Some bangin' dance tunes piped from the huge speaker at the back during takeoff and landing.
Return flights will be used to transport salt back to the UK for use on the roads in the forthcoming winter.

Arbottle. An Air Chav frequent flyer in waiting.
I want my free promotional booking and I want it now ! - 36" Seat pitch to accomodate my Hummmm Internal Burger storage area. Are the Seat backs slashed, just to make it look more like home ? - Oh ! yes please, a gratis seat for Bruno, my faithfull Staff / Ridgeback cross ( he's a mix of two breeds too.) 14 Years old and still chews through his steel bite ring - On his third set of Fangs, a gentle old chap. I will take him for a walk, when those nice people at the Battle Surgery Unit sew my arm back on - Is a UB40 good enough for an Business class upgrade? Finally is there a Diamond Blight frequent flyer program.
CAT III - Cap in Hand, (Par ardua ad TWOCK)
Don't knock the Neon.

Howard Holdings plc has been wound up in the high court of justice, chancery division. 22 July 2009
Coventry Airport is wholly owned by Howard Holdings plc
Looks like they failed to find anyone prepared to pay any money for the place. Not sure what happens next..

Howard Holdings don't wholly own Coventry Airport.
They own a lease to operate the airport from Coventry City Council.
Its not the same thing - and the lease may well have clauses that cover the
possibility of the lessor going out of business...... (I should hope!).
No doubt Coventry City Council are considering their options.
What Coventry Airport needs is a viable Business Plan.

Seems to me that they have been moving in the right direction with Exec and Cargo...I think Howard Holdings PLC have been in trouble for a while.
Who runs the Exec operation there? It may be in their interests to look at the lease...
Whatever happens Good luck to them, I think they'll need it.

The Exec operation is run by the Airport Company itself (West Midlands International Airport Ltd). WMIA holds the lease so the airports changes of "ownership" from Atlantique to Thomson to Howard have been through the sale of that company.
If you read this carefully (from Construction News) it seems that the Airport company may not be affected at all as it was probably not owned by the little part of the whole Howard group that has been shut down.
"The UK arm of Irish property development firm Howard Holdings PLC was wound up in the High Court on Wednesday.
But UK investment director Geoff Sparrow said it was “business as usual” as more than 95 per cent of firm’s assets are held elsewhere in other vehicles.
He said: “The brand name has been wound up, but we are still here answering the phones.
“It is still unclear what the new brand name will be, but it is business as usual. All contractors have been fully paid and all the projects are fully funded and being built.”
According to business intelligence unit Glenigan the developer has six jobs on the go in the UK ranging from £2 million to £200 million in size.
The largest project listed is a £200 million residential and commercial development in Weymouth ferry terminal, but Howard Holdings is no longer involved in that job.
Howard Holdings is an Irish firm with €4billion-worth of projects and investments under development.
Among the firms major shareholders is Brendan Murtagh, the founder of construction products group Kingspan."

That may explain why there is nothing in the local news about the airport owners. However, it is difficult to see where they are making any money from the operation.....Time will tell.
