No New Operator
"Due to the sustained bad press afforded to the suspension of flights from Dundee and the consequent collapse of customer confidence, the flight operator planning to replace White Eagle on their routes has now decided to withdraw from the opportunity.
This is much regretted by the FlyWhoosh sales companies who feel that had there been less ‘outrage’ and more ‘support’ from regional press and politicians, then flights may well have recommenced from this week. This will now not be happening."
Taken off the Flywhoosh website today, can Aden find another Mug (Sorry carrier) before Xmas?? Anyone got a spare aircraft??

I think the only hope now is for another carrier to step in and operate the services themselves with no input at all from Murcutt.
Loganair would be the obvious choice, they have a long standing relationship HIAL, operate a suitable size of aircraft and would benefit from the BA codeshare.
However they may not consider the services to be viable, or may not have sufficient aircraft & crew to operate.

what other operators are out there that could take this on themselves with no input from whoosh?
several of the lo cost operators are expanding, im sure that it would appeal to some of them ?

The largest aircraft ive seen in Dundee is the BAe146 when it used to operate the Palma flight, albeit this had a touch down in SEN or BOH i seem to recall.
Im guessing something like a Do328 or Saab 340,would be an ideal candidate for reopening the BHX route, possible alongside a MAN flight, maybe a twice weekly Belfast too. Saying that there is talk again of RAF Leuchars opening up a bit for commercial traffic again, my mate live in Leuchars.

overall, a real poor excuse by Flywhoosh and to blame a new operator not wanting to operate due to bad publicity is not a proper excuse and one I feel has not been given by the operator.
I doubt very much a new operator would use that excuse and feel its a cover up as to why flights are not going ahead. It would be stupid for a carrier to turn down this flying and give this excuse IMHO! In fact I would of thought a new operator would been seen as saving the day thus having the opposite and giving themselves excellent and free publicity, not that many carriers who provide A.C.M.I work want or need publicity having said that.

As has been said already, dundee can take up to Cat 6, biggest i believe being an RJ100. The airport is roughly the same as LCY, but with less restrictions. D328, F50, ATR42, Dash 8, 146 &RJ series have all used airport at one time or another.

What am I missing here???
sorry, but just dont get this - murcutt starts a route - you all say great! - it goes wrong, you all say 'hope someone picks it up' - 'looks fantastic' etc - then you all say Murcutt is a wane ker - get him away FAST - then 'what a great route - why didnt anyone else spot it?' - so what is the issue here? Is this bloke good or bad? Seems to me you are all full of spunk when it suits and full of fear when it seems correct to think he is an idioit. Wish I had the blokes bollocks. Done stuff you lot only dream of. When did you last stick your neck out - thought so, never!

If sticking my neck out meant starting a very small UK regional airline then I think I would be rightly deemed as being completely daft. In business, often these completely daft ideas are the ones that pay off bigtime (high risk, high reward) but not from what I have seen in the airline industry.
In addition, I think the message on the flywhoosh website is nothing short of pathetic. If you fart about as much as they did ("we'll tell you of the new arrangements on thursday") and then come up with nothing ("We'll err... give you the details asap"), is it any wonder that confidence has gone through the floor? I didn't see any media reports apart form the ones that were linked to in this post but if they had been negative, that wouldn't have been unjustified in my view.

I take my hat off to AM and what he has or is trying to achieve with Flywhoosh. He has started up a small regional airline from an underachieving airport to untried routes. He has managed to carry 17,000 pax in six months....... now that alone deserves a bit of support. Yes there has been probems with WEA, probably internal politics, but i do hope he can get things sorted out and a new carrier can be found.
I think he did have a point, the courier has been on the case and some of the publicity has been appalling, but the the courier has never been know for its supposrt of Dundee Airport.
Hopefully it will all get sorted out, it looks like being an exciting time for the airport with HIAL taking over, not seen much change so far but it has only been 2 weeks.
Only time will tell for all.................

money was granted for 6 months through the scottish exec. can anyone really see anything other than a d328 flying from DND in the new year? i cant! HIAL are going to bring new routes in through dundee though, no way they would take on an airport with only 7 daily flights, when they know there is potential for more may i add, and not have future plans. bring it on i say! many changes already been made, just not noticable to the untrained eye.
