You've missed the boat or ferry or whatever you have down there in Waterford. Euromanx pulled out of the plans a while back. See

I don't know if Euromanx even has its own staff travel let alone with anybody else.

Why was the Euromanx idea to operate Galway and Waterford to "sun" destinations dropped ?
Would have thought it was a winner ?
Nearest airport offering these (sun flights) flights to Waterford residents (allowing for roads and checkin time) would be 4 hours away and if you use Dublin expect to leave Waterford about 5 hours before your flight departs.

Sun destinations out of Waterford? Hmm, Id like to see that, but would you get to the south of spain without a stop in an ATR 72? Cos theres nothing else that would get off that r/w!

Airbourne I wasn't suggesting ATR72s. BAe146s have been in and out of Waterford in the past. Pity Cityjet would not be interested.
Euromanx's RJ70s were going to do it. They operated last year from a shorter runway in Galway to Malaga.
I think A318/319s could possibly operate off Waterford's 1400m runway and a runway extension could be on the cards.

Runway extension? They have been talking about that for years! Ok, so you got a 146 down to Malaga! Would it work out of the South East. I remember when RE start the Lorient serivce, its was like all their Xmas's had come at once! However, the load factors told a different story! The managment really need to get the finger out if they are going to make it work, and I dont think Nicky is really botherd! What is EIWF? 2 flying clubs, a base for SAR, and a half arsed 'international' service to LTN!

Location of EIWF
The location of Waterford is the prime reason for its lack of traffic. If it had been built across the Suir the journey time from alll over the South East would be reduced and it could be marketed as a the South East Regional Airport.
It's catchment area would have been at least as big as Knock. I'm a big hurling supporter but I can never understand why Waterford people are so reluctant to develop anything on the Kilkenny side of the river.
It's taking the county jersey rivalry too far.

airborne >>> I remember when RE start the Lorient serivce, its was like all their Xmas's had come at once! However, the load factors told a different story!
Care to explain this one ? - From what i've seen the load factor averaged 90-95% for the season. The service has increased from a shared service with Galway in 2004 to three direct flights for summer 2006.

Seems to be working to me - passenger figures up 30% on 2004.
Waterford has always been the poor relation of the other regionals, while they squandered millions of PSO money over the years, Waterford has always had to survived as a commerical operation.
It will be interesting to see how the airports operate when PSO completes it run

I hear that 2005 pax throughput at EIWF is likely to be up almost 50% on 2004. As for new routes checkout the Air Wales website - Waterford - Rennes twice per week from end March. Talks are ongoing re other new routes with another carrier, it is unlikely that the Euromanx deal will go ahead in 2006. Plans have been mentioned locally for an extension to approx. 1,700mtr x 45mtr to be completed in 2008!

Hoss you are right, Airwales is still advertising for the Waterford-Rennes however I don't think the route will happen. I talked to a manager recently from Waterfor airport and apparently the airlines hasn't contacted the airport yet Furthermore the management in the airport has heard about the rumour and they will not allow this route to start up as it is a route to close to Waterford-Lorient flown by Arann. So it looks like Airwales have to look for a different route soon and take off their advertising on their website to avoid having too many upset passengers

Re: WATERFORD Airport
What airline in their right mind would start selling seats without talking to the destination airports ?
Cokeman you must have been given duff info. Air Wales must have been talking to somebody, surely ?

If they have not being talking to the airport about these flights then they would not be on sale!
They have all the times, flight numbers etc!!
Re: WATERFORD Airport
very well point taken, but it is still a fact that they (Air Wales) won't be allowed flying that route as the management of the board has said no. They believe the route is too close to the already excisting route flown by RE.
