Quick question- does anyone know who the charterer is for the First Choice Airways flight to Grenoble? It isn't available on the First Choice website to book, not mentioned on the airports website.
Re Girona, do we think Ryanair will try something else after dropping Rome, or will they be put off as Rome didn't work for them??

What's changed?
I visited MME last week for the first time since 1972.
Nothing seems to have changed, apart from a bit of resurfacing.
Every other airport in the country has developed, so what's the problem here?

Charterer for FCA was SkiBound as I actually flew to Grenoble myself with
my school. Stayed in Alpe D'Huez for the week. Got 757 G-CPEV both ways
Cheers,
Sam

Maybe flights are being pulled from Darlington Municipal Airfield because the passengers and operators don't like members of Hitler Youth doing the Security? Maybe no one knows where to look for the place since that pointless change of name? Maybe it doesn't represent good value for money for the operators? Or maybe it's because there are too many numpties running regional airports making the lives of operators more difficult than they need be, and then they wonder why they are empty! A classic example (amongst others) is compulsory pushbacks. But there again, what do I know?

Do I laugh or cry at the following article in this mornings Northern Echo ? :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A TOUR operator is offering holidaymakers the choice of travelling from two North-East airports at different times, despite it being the same place.
Durham Tees Valley Airport, which has fought to raise awareness of its new name since changing from Teesside Airport over a year ago, is listed under both its past and present titles.
Flights to Costa Blanca and Tenerife are offered from Teesside and Durham Tees Valley in the Portland Holiday winter sun brochure, but the departure times and supplement charges are different.
Last night, airport officials said they found the mix-up frustrating, and Portland said there was clearly some confusion.
Durham Tees Valley Airport has fought against claims of an identity crisis since its name-change in September 2004. But road signs on major roads across the region still say Teesside Airport, and a year-long dispute between the airport and the Highways Agency continues.
Critics have said the signs could confuse tourists and people new to the region, and questioned how successful the name-change has been.
The confusion with the brochure raises further questions as to how aware many people are of the airport's new name. Emma Ormerod, from Durham Tees Valley Airport, said although the brochure did not help with the rebranding, it was not being treated as a major issue.
"It is frustrating from an airport point of view, but clearly it must be put down to an oversight by the tour operator," she said.
A spokeswoman for Portland Holidays apologised for the error, and said it had been amended for their summer 2006-7 brochure.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
It always seems to happen to MME !!!

At least they just get the name wrong for you guys. Passengers which want to fly from Leeds and have booked from Leeds are now going to be flying from Doncaster to Varna, Dalaman and Bodrum. "Your holiday starts here" is there quote here, yet does anyone actually no where here is at Thomson HQ?

Yep about time it had it's own arrivals/departures boards!!
In other news, it seems Goldtrail Holidays are offering both Bodrum and Dalaman for Su06! They're both operating on Thursdays, with the Dalaman being on Onur Air shared with Holidays4u (first summer for them) but the Bodrum??
Anyway, that gives 3 flights a week to Dalaman, the others being for Thomson and MyTravel (Thomsonfly / Pegasus respectively)

Ryanair won't fly to Girona if they can't fill a plane to Rome!
MME was one of the few airport's whose PAX numbers dropped in December!
There is a rumour that the midday bmi LHR service will be operated by an Embraer in Summer 06 - which isn't a bad thing if the route is 4x daily, but I strongly doubt that!

Just noticed that on the new MME online arrivals board the Rome flight is down as Fiumicino airport rather than ciampino! Is this a mistake on the airports part or have Ryanair swallowed their pride and decided to fly to real airports?

DURHAM Airport
Summary of previous Durham Tees Valley Airport thread:
- Airport to get new brushed steel front
- Passenger numbers dropped in December
- Summer 06 midday bmi LHR route to be operated by an Embraer (rumour)
- New Dalaman route for Summer 06
I know that the airport is going through a rough time at the moment but I'm sticking by them whatever happens, I hope you all will too!
