ROCKHOPPER Jetstreams

Heard via the northern rock pidgeon post the first Jetstream will be starting training shortly??

Can anyone confirm this??

If they are this close to getting the aircraft ready for training does any one know on the routes they hope to operate on.

If training is shortly to start, it will take a month or two before they would be fully up and running.

One would think they would have to start operating the aircraft under another operators A.O.C. when they have to operate commercially??

Jetstream Ops

Now Rockhopper operations are located in Jersey in the old Aurigny departure lounge, does any one have any update on there fleet expansion meaning the Jetstream operation.

When the Jetstreams arrive are they for fleet expansion or will they be replacing some of the Britten Norman fleet?????.

What's happened to Alderney? They still have their base and operations from there?

They don't have a habbit of updating their site very often.

Angel ACI & JER AX Facilities!!!

ACI's facilities last time i was there (2 summers back) the facilities were as they have been for at least the last twenty years. How can i put it nicely... The facilities at ACI are TIRED!!!

With regards to JER, can anyone tell me how AX have gotten away with moving into the old GR lounge. I assume this is mearly their ops and not as a ck-in and departure lounge. Anyway, it definately cannot be a permanent residence in there due to the 1937 building soon to be demolished. Any news on this matter...?

Update

Spoke to there Operations today and mentioned the Jetstream to them ,they seem to know very little or nothing.

Is ******** keeping very quite untill they appear on the door step on stand 31 outside there ops window.

Looking at some of the possible areas they may be looking at are as follows

EGJJ - EGNS - EGJJ
EGJJ - EGBJ - EGJJ
EGJJ - EGSC - EGJJ
EGJJ - EGMD - EGJJ
EGJJ - LFRT - EGJJ
EGJJ - EGHH -EGJJ
EGJB - LFRT - EGJB
EGJB - EGHH - EGJB

the Jetstream is ideal to operate on these sort of sector lengths ,he passenger loads are ideal for a large mini-bus.

We look forward to the success of this comming venture,

Does any one know if the aircraft have arrive accross the big pond, if so where are they being C.of A. checked to return to the British register.

How long before we see the aircraft route proving and has the training started yet???????.

J31's onto UK register

I think it will be a little longer to get them on the UK register.

S/n 871 & 873 have never been on the UK register, they've always been in USA so presumably were built to FAA spec. It will be quite an expensive mod to achieve UK certification status, including such items as EGPWS & latest update on TCAS.

YAK97

Does this mean they might have got them cheap????

Another way at looking at this could British Aerospace be behind them, to help certify them on the British register????

There may be a lot more Jetstreams comming on the market???

If there are a lot more Jetstreams comming on the market could this see the end of the good old doodle bug i.e. the Trislander.

with new regulations comming in on single pilot operation of certain types this may be the next step for companies of small commuter size within the U.K. or may be even Europe to operate types like the Jetstream,

If this is the case it would be nice to see more British made aircraft to prove that they are still around.

Bae & J31/32's

Some J31/32's are very cheap in USA because they've been sitting around for years & years. Their value is basically 2 engines & the major components (undercarriage/avionics), so less than 400,000USD.

Bae aren't really interested in their remaining aircraft - J31/32, J41, J61 (ATP) 146/RJ. Their main business now is making bits for other manufactuerers.

I don't know who Rockhopper are using to get aircraft on UK register - Eastern/Atlantic ? Who else operates J31/32 in UK?

Don't think the J32's are a replacement for the Bn2. ACI's runway is the problem. That's why Rockhopper looked at Let410 earlier this year?

I believe some German or Dutch reg J31's are coming back to the UK register (I believe one arrived in CVT last month?)

EUROSTAR BUILDER

It will be very interesting to see if your info on them being on contract is correct.

The islands do not seem to be the place for a contract unless it is to do with the major people (Healthspan) who put up funds several months ago. They are behind a number of hotels in Guernsey and i believe one in Alderney.

The contract could be to feed the hotel clients via a number of places by the Jetstream fleet.

This would seem possible, we look forward to the outcome.

The one place the Jetstream will not be able to operate into is Alderney, so they would have to feed via Jersey or Guernsey.

Into europe

Quoted on the radio today rockhopper are look at expanding the operation into europe with the introduction of the Jetstream fleet for 2006.

The Channel Islands may see routes like Paris and Zurich operating again.

The Jetstream must be the type to at least try these if these work look at expanding to other places.

The report in the Jersey Evening Post actually said that the Jersey-Isle of Man service would have a stopover in Bournemouth and that the total flying time will be two hours. It will be a weekday only route. Passengers will not have to get off the aircraft in Bournemouth and the outbound flight will leave Jersey about 930am with the return arriving back in the Island about 4 pm.

At weekends the two new aircraft will be used to carry customers of Rockhopper's major investor, Healthspan, which is to open two hotels in Guernsey and one in Alderney next spring.

N871JX ex American Eagle JS31 arrived at PIK last night from Iceland and is due to depart for Guernsey (I think) around 0830 today so I guess this must be one of the a/c concerned.

Jetstreams

I was informed they needed a lot of avionics work done on them, the airframe might have been up to CAA spec for U.K. certifaction on arrival but the main problem being the avionics.

The aircraft departed Guernsey after 30 minutes on the ground on the 16th and went to Biggin Hill, so it could be where the work will take place. I would think Santa will not have it ready this side of christmas but at the start of the new year.

Rockhopper would have to have a number of training weeks before the first aircraft will be on line.

With operations being in Jersey they may look at training in the Channel Islands.
