Heya Guys!

Just a quick Q!

I've noticed on a couple of stands at EXT there is a solid centerline then a stop arrow (only halfway up the stand on Stands 9 & 10) then a dashed yellow line all the way to where I would expect the stop to be, any ideas what this is?

Also, another airfield opsy question, I've noticed Stand 2 is rarely used and I've never seen/heard Stand 2A used, are they there for a specific purpose?

Anyway, glad to hear about the routes, shame they are all baby blue but still it's some form of expansion!

Anyone know where these new stands are going to be? (doubt they will be done by the end of winter as promissed though!)

Cheers,

Alex

As an observer with noconnection with airfield ops...

Stand 2A is in more or less the same position as Stand 2 - but at a different angle towards the terminal. It was regularly used by Flybe BAE146 aircraft - which are not now regular visitors on scheduled flights. A 146 could not park on stand 2 as it would infringe the taxiway. A different angle and hey presto! She fits!

Not sure about the dashed centreline though. I think they may indicate offset or alternative parking positions. I think they may also indicate that they will not accomodate a "drive-through" taxi position. I'm sure someone will confirm or deny. Or even both!

Cheers EGTE!

That's answered one of my questions anyway!

Anyone know if the grass parking is closed permenantly in the winter or just when the weather turns yucky? Never been down to Exeter during the Winter for some reason.... probably because I'm addicted to hot summer breaks

extalex, stand 2 and 2a, due to the 1in7 transitional slope certain aircraft are required to park offset or on 2a, for example a bae142 can park on stand 2 but a bae143 cannot it needs 2a, a bae143 will physically fit on stand 2 but the tail infringes on the slope.

stand 2 is often used for executive flights, erj145's 146's and every night sees a titan b733.

Heya Guys,

Cheers for the response to my previous questions - still no takers on why Stands 9 & 10 are set-up so?

Does anyone have any rough idea of any form of stand assignment plan at Exeter? If not are any of the stands limited by aircraft size, we've looked at Stand 2/2A.

Cheers Guys, much appreciated,

Alex

Your stretching my memory now but 9 and 11 are for larger aircraft if I remember correctly!? The dashed lines were for guidence of a B747-I beleve the very first one came onto the apron as not stopping long....of course i may be completely wrong but it rings a bell!

EGTE,

I already have an AIS chart, those tell me the stand numbers and positions but not the usual visitors on those stands and nor the max aircraft size.

The rail depot is a bit of a red herring. Given the limitations on the line capacity (it is single track) and also on the ability of local roads to cope, it is not likely to be a major hub, neither will there be much extra airport traffic generated. They can hardly accommodate any more passenger trains from Salisbury to Exeter, so where will the freight come from?

Oh, and the local residents won't stand for major upheaval,

Heya Guys,

I heard that areas of the main apron are being closed for engineering works, could this have anything to do with the proposed construction of two stands this winter? If not, has any more progress been made?

Cheers,

Alex

The DC10 was operated by Omni Air International and was taking troops to Norway.

There is a new Masterplan page on the website which will house it in the near future... but it does seem to be taking its time!!

Also,

E)TWY C CLOSED BTN APRON AND TWY D, OPPOSITE FIRE SECTION, DUE WORK
IN PROGRESS

Anyone know where Taxiway D is? I thought that TWY D was got rid off when they moved all the holding points when they closed the old runway.

Also, where are these new stands they said they would build in the winter? Having got much longer left!!
