Just thinking of booking NOC/GWY/SNN to EDI and the following prices i got for second half of july are as follows for four adults,
NOC to EDI €341.08
GWY to EDI €484.96
SNN to EDI €487.32
So its looks like noc will pressure on snn and gwy even more.

Bleeding and shunting ? Why cant you just be pleased regarding these new routes ?
Just because Florida has been pulled from Edinburgh on previous occasions- if it works from all the other larger airports in the UK- theres no reason to suggest it cant stand on its own two feet. All airports in UK are getting increases to their Florida long haul programs ( including what yet again appears to be your nemesis- Glasgow Airport). I would say despite your rather negative spin- this is great news. And rather straighter from the horses mouth:

We have been here before with Thomsons, I'd feel happier if it were an operator without irons in the GLA fire. It's natural that they might wish to expand but not at the expense of what they currently offer from Scotland.
Other Florida ventures from EDI have also been by operators
who have pulled the flights in order to double-up at GLA,
Nemesis? I have no idea what you are talking about.
I could be jumping the gun on the basis of past experience but hopefully BAA are planning for the eventual sale of one central belt airport.

Which airport? Either would stimulate competition rather than having two airports in the same cosy bed together. The bit that worries me is the fact

actually looking into it there are only about 8 flights next year from EDI with regards to TOM longhaul its not a full season programme.
July 2012..Sunday flights, equipment apparently is 767..one flight looks as if it's showing a midnight return.

Seriously, here's hoping both airports will benefit from the sale, I passed through both during the last month and have to say that each has its plusses and minuses - airside at EDI is much better, more spacious, until you visit Ryanair Central, the eastern pier that really looks like its been nailed on (badly). And GLA's originally beautiful 1966 terminal has been well and truly BAA'd to within an inch of its life. Don't think you can even see the Queen's dedication any more...its got a shop in front of it!

I was a pax on the 777 that operated the 13.50 (local) EDI LGW flight on the
13th (which actually pushed at 14.20). Watching the EDI staff trying to cope with the 777 was quite amusing - I hadn't realised before that EDI doesn't have a fuel hydrant system (why?) and the combination of taking ages to refuel the 777 from a tanker plus delays loading baggage caused the 30 min delay. An interesting novelty but I'd rather have gone on time on a 737 than late on the 777. Going through security the LED sign proclaimed that the waiting time was 7 to 10 minutes. Only 3 out of a possible 10 scanners was in use and one of those was dedicated to fasttrack. The improvements at Gatwick since it changed ownership are now very clear. The sooner BAA sells either EDI or GLA and some competition is created, the better.
