MyTravel Lite at Knock (NOC/EIKN)
Anyone know why MTL are pulling the route to Birmingham? I always heard that they had quite a large ammount of PAX on their flights... Surely its not because BMI baby are flying the route now?

Its a real shame because it is a good route for them and they have a great customer base on it. They're effectively just handing it on a plate to bmibaby. Suppose it just doesn't fit in with the rest of the route structure so it had to be the one to face the chop.

lol, I'll second that, one look at their route structure... Knock sticks out like a sore thumb!
It's a bad loss for Knock, BA left, in the face of competition???
And now My Travel Lite...
Just when it was getting busy at Knock!
(PS It is my local airport! )

It is a shame that My travel are going but aircraft was always a problem i remember in november in one week the my travel came in late 3 times.May be another airline will pick the route up, it always had good loads
I think its time for some routes to france/Germany from knock, They really have the UK covered now.

I think you will find that it ended up diverting to SNN 3 times in one week. Knock is on top of a mountain attempting to get CAT 11. Knock will see more services come and go. Will not continue with 3 Londons daily, believe RE struggling with Liverpool, BMI pulled EMA and GLA. 370,000 pax in 04. A lot of this traffic charter based means outgoing pax, it is having a negative impact on local tourism economy i.e. more outbound pax that inbound. Where is the catchment area. Having saidd all that best of luck to them

Despite rumours of it being not the case, MyTravelLite has been a great project for MyTravel. It has got the MyTravel brand out to the Midlands-based community at a time when all angles of the press have been trying to tarnish the name, and it has been getting quite a local following.
Currently, MyTravel want to take the MyTravelLite format of providing frequently (i.e. more than once weekly) flights to various bucket-and-spade routes where there is a greater proportion now of passengers travelling to visit second-homes than those who are going on a packaga (e.g. Malaga, Alicante & Faro). It's likely that MyTravelLite is going to be expanded on services from Gatwick, Manchester & one or two other major bases.
It's not known whether Lite will remain as a seperate brand with daily flights from BHX, or the more likely conclusion that there will be higher frequencies, a BOB services offering (buy-on-board) and high advertising for the flights, possibly under the MyTravelFlights brand.

Don't knock Knock. They have made life very difficult for SNN, GWY and RE in particular. With EZ and FR going to slug it out with 1000's of cheap seats in summer 2005 it will be swarming in Mayo. NOC is hell bent on putting GWY off the map. Expect to see them get some Uk regional services announced shortly and they were very close to USA charters in '05. Many of the services at present suffer from poor loads but NOC knocks on enough doors to get replacement services when a carrier pulls off. A EURO return to London any day this summer from NOC I reckon if you shop around.

I agree with neidin the airport is performing brilliant and the future looks promising for this small airport. There will be a flight to New York in March for St Patrick's. As a local the management up there a great everyone is very in Mayo is very proud of the airport. Galway is sure to feel the brunt of the extra flights this summer, there’s no stopping the Knock saga.
neidin: What will these Uk regional services be im very interested to know.

Neidin
Once again your having a go at RE and GWY and SNN. Will you substantiate your claims. How have Knock made life difficult for SNN and GWY? Lots of €1 fares equals no yield. Galway has catchment area - a city, SNN has a catchment area - a city and Knock has em. Knock is a three hour drive from SNN and a one and a half hour drive from Galway. Having said that they are doing a good job but have a look at the Galway figures on their website for 2004 it looks like they are catching Knock and Shannon has a bright future. Once again Neidin you use another thread to have a wild cut at Irish avition. For me your credibility and motives are questionable!

All three airports are doing very well, only time will tell how well these airports cope with the Locos, but you have to admit Galway are in for a bumpy year.
Does anyone think any airline will take up the Birmingham route once MTL are gone?

I know BMIbaby have started the route, but the two flight (bmi,MTL) were showing strong loads thats why i asked. Knock's management like competition on routes. With the two flights there are 230 seats daily to and from BHX but once MTL go that number will go down to 150 seat daily.
Would it be possible Flybe might come down and chance it?
